Even a tiny bit will do. Trump doesn't seem to be able to manage that, except accidentally by trial-and-error shots in the dark.

Almost every time he encounters a situation without a tried-and-true down-pat response he defaults to attributing to other parties thoughts/motivations that sound suspiciously like what his own seem to be. He does not account for the existence of an internal life of another person which deviates from his own.
