Well well.. can't wait to see what Stephen Colbert has to say about the WHCD

Just checked my local listings and as far as I can tell (sometimes they are wrong) tomorrows show is new

For any youngsters out there who don't know, Colbert himself blew the roof off at the WHCD during the Bush administration (2006, I think)

I imagine at some point today Colbert was on the phone with Jon Stewart and they were all like.. good grief, THAT is the controversy? Really?

Colbert has never been afraid to go for the jugular, Monday nights show should be a good one!

It will be hilarious. I remember when Colbert toasted the son Bush. That was priceless!

I was looking forward to all of these, too, since both Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers are WHCD alumni and Michelle Wolf is currently working with The Daily Show!

Sometimes you have to laugh just to keep from jumping off a building

It was the same thing with Jon Stewart during the Bush years

And he keeps up - there was the time he learned about the announced North Korea summit right in the middle of taping and he ad libbed the rest of his monologue! As for Jon Stewart, he obviously retired at the wrong time, wish he would weigh in more often. I was lucky enough to be in his studio audience back in 2008 and he's not only smart and quick, he's a really nice guy.

And I saw an interview with Colbert, he said that more than a couple times some news would break during the show. Then at the end of the show they would immediately re-tape a new monolog to cover what just happened

I think that's a perfect example of just how fast the Trump dumpster fire burns!

One time when he taped Friday's show on Thursday, the news had completely changed by the time Friday rolled around - and I notice that it's never happened again. And you're right, Trump can change is mind during the same "speech..."

As for Jon Stewart, he answered audience questions before the show and one lady asked about his notes - and he remembered, gave them to her after the show.

The other studio audience I've been in was David Letterman's - and he was equally personable. He also came out and answered questions and joked with the audience before the show - and afterwards he came out and made a point of thanking us for coming. After 30 years, he still did that which impressed me.

... about both Stewart and Letterman

I always like it when you hear stories like that, it's refreshing when the money and fame do NOT go to their head

Granted, it was January in New York, but he must run hot because he took off his jacket between takes while the staff was working inside wearing parkas and sweaters! I thought of that the other day when one of Colbert's female guests said it was cold in there - so it must be the studio!

And I've heard more than one guest comment on it to Colbert

I'm guessing Colbert came in and decided to keep it that way. When starting the show, he likes to run all around the stage and get all jacked up

Whatever it is, it's working! Ha ha!
