That's what's offensive...!
She sucks...not funny at all.
Not even close....
Offensive is not the issue...sucking at comedy is more offensive!!!
She'll never work again!
Because she's not funny...anyone can be offensive...that's easy...
being funny - not so easy...
She is a shitty comedian first...offensive second

(15,805 posts)I was offended when Trump bragged about grabbing women by the pussy, but you're complaining because a witty woman actually called him out on his disgusting behaviour and yet you think this line is offensive:
I would drag him here myself, but it turns out that the president of the United States is the one pussy youre not allowed to grab. He said it first. Yeah, he did. You remember? Good.

You are offended when a strong woman bring up the hypocrisy of Republican men who are trying to make abortions illegal again, while they pay off their mistresses to get one? Why doesn't offend you?
[Vice-president Mike Pence] thinks abortion is murder. Which first of all dont knock it till you try it. And when you do try it, really knock it, you gotta get that baby out of there. And yeah, sure, you can groan all you want, I know a lot of you are very anti-abortion, you know, unless its the one you got for your secret mistress.

(14,249 posts)But I think she he walked very close to the line - as do most really smart, very edgy and insightful comedians. And when they walk that close to the line, they sometimes teeter over onto the wrong side. But when they nail it, they totally kill it, as she did.
Richard Pryor, Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, Sam Kinnison, etc. - the true geniuses - sometimes made me cringe. But when they got it right, they were so dead on, it was painful.
I dont think Michelle Wolf is in their league - yet - but she showed she may have the chos to eventually get there.

(2,091 posts)Nobody heard of Michelle Wolf before Saturday night. You hadn't. I hadn't.
She could have done a great routine where people would have been talking about how bad Trump is or how lame his presidency has been.
But she had no intention of doing that. She wanted all the talk to be about Michelle Wolf. And she succeeded. She was the comedy equivalent of being a shock jock.
And so everyone is talking about her. We are not talking about Cohen....who's Cohen?....we aren't talking about Trump.....and we aren't even talking about Huckaby Sanders' lies, we are talking about her eyes.
And Wolf will now make more money. It is all about money.

https://www.allure.com/story/sean-spicer-does-his-own-makeup
Though President Donald Trump has been the one long called out for his particular shade of "tan", Press Secretary Sean Spicer takes the crown for top makeup artist in the White House. Spicer has been been conspicuously absent from television screens now that the default protocol is apparently off-camera briefings, but the press secretary is certainly always ready for his closeup. A recent New York Times article revealed that Spicer does his own makeup.
Reporter Mark Leibovich visited Spicer's White House office before a scheduled appearance on Fox News. While discussing the Inauguration crowd size, an aide stepped in to remind Spicer about his impending TV interview, prompting Spicey to break out the foundation and was none too happy that Leibovich made a note of it.
[Spicer] walked over to a small desk in the corner of his office and started rubbing on foundation

C'mon, you must be old enough -- its in TOS -- to be at least marginally aware that we all have our personal preferences when it comes what is or isn't funny, but that entirely a subjective exercise. Mind you now, I've heard some people griping about her excoriating takedown of well known personages and the sacred cow we call 'the media', but you -- LOL -- you are actually mewling that she wasn't funny enough for your esteemed tastes?

(9,186 posts)Trump and his minions are fair game. I'm not offended by what she said. It's just that it wasn't funny. There were three or four lines that gave me a chuckle, but mostly it was like Trump's Al Smith dinner speech.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,748 posts)Others obviously did think she was funny. And when I read the transcript the next day, at least some of the jokes seemed funnier than when she delivered them. Maybe I found her style too off-putting to enjoy the jokes (and her voice is awful), and I did find some of them to be mean-spirited and crude. But that really isn't the point. The point is that if the purpose of the WHCD is to celebrate the First Amendment, a comedian, or anyone else, should feel free to be offensive and call out the president, his minions, and the press itself, because that's what the First Amendment allows us to do. The complaints (mostly by GOPers, of course) have been over her comments directed at minions Sanders and Conway, and not at the quality of the humor. While I didn't like the routine, I was disappointed that the WHCA apologized. They shouldn't have.
The WHCD has become sort of a parody of itself, though. It's become a high-falutin' celebrity gathering where the main event is a comedy routine in which a comedian roasts various important people and is then criticized for it. Maybe they should just go back to being a dinner for industry folks where they award scholarships to students and say nice things about each other, then go back to work.

(37,748 posts)After her "insult" was seen to be something other than an insult against Sander's appearance, I figured this would be the second bullet point to come into play.
If this one doesn't work, my guess is we start digging into her past twitter accounts to find something there, as last week's bait was delicious chum in shallow waters.

(11,592 posts)I found her riveting--loved how her eyes shone and she smiled pleasantly as she delivered her jokes. She stood tall and her demeanor was defiant because she knew she was making some uncomfortable points well--as a woman. She wasn't grimacing and gross like Andrew Dice Clay, but pleasant with her eyes and smile, and she had penned her jokes beautifully so that they had to be thought about for a second to make sure you didn't miss some of the meaning or misheard what she said.
When I first checked in on DU to see what people were saying about her because I was unable to watch the WHCD I was shocked to read so many posts and comments about how Michelle Wolf was bombing. Later, when I caught the performance I thought her last name was so appropriate because she had the whole audience paying attention--they were her prey. I laughed when I heard her say that Kellyanne Conway's last name was so appropriate, and of course many other times, too. As the camera panned the audience I say people laughing (both appreciatively and with OMGs!), but they were paying attention--even Sarah whatever her name and Kellyanne Conway (quite a feat for Wolf because they are both always dismissive and interruptive).
I wished I could have been there to clap. No wonder everyone is talking about her performance and Netflix is extending her contract.

(1,148 posts)When you consider that we are in a crisis, and we have a President who disrespects the office and the American people, the cruelty was much deserved. This isn't the time for propriety.
The only thing is - as much as I despise Huckabee Sanders - some of the jokes seemed to be about her appearance and I don't necessarily care for that.
Other than that, I admire the rudeness. He is rude, childish and disrespects the office. Being rude is kind of necessary.
