Let's Revisit 2016 Journalmism: "It May Not Be Good for America, but It's Damn Good for CBS"

Leslie Moonves on Donald Trump: "It May Not Be Good for America, but It's Damn Good for CBS"
11:26 AM PST 2/29/2016 by Paul Bond

Leslie Moonves can appreciate a Donald Trump candidacy.

Not that the CBS executive chairman and CEO might vote for the Republican presidential frontrunner, but he likes the ad money Trump and his competitors are bringing to the network.

"It may not be good for America, but it's damn good for CBS," he said of the presidential race.

Moonves called the campaign for president a "circus" full of "bomb throwing," and he hopes it continues.

"Most of the ads are not about issues. They're sort of like the debates," he said.

"Man, who would have expected the ride we're all having right now? ... The money's rolling in and this is fun," he said.

The most powerful line of Wolf's speech, which will inevitably get overshadowed by what she said about Sanders, was this on the media and Trump:

"He has helped you sell your papers and your books and your TV.
You helped create this monster and now you are profiting from him."

You and your network betrayed the public trust.

But then, after what your network did to Dan Rather, perhaps we shouldn’t have expected the courage your corporate news organization showed back when Uncle Walter did the news.

because of trump so it didn't work on me. I still avoid most of the shows with few exceptions. I prefer reading the news. I cannot tolerate listening or looking at trump.

this fact so clearly, letting them know we still remember. The media is responsible for their own shoddy reputation thanks to idiots like Moonves and their mercenary decisions in 2016.

Rupert Murdock is, of course, the worst thing media wise to happen to our country. I don't group him with the other so-called "legit" news.
