DC Eagle cam: My first 2 screenshots of the little fuzzball; hatched at 12:17 today.

I captured them when mom was feeding him at about 6:30 EDT tonight. After all the ugliness in Washington, I thought I'd share something cool. The second egg should hatch in 1-3 days.

I wonder where this eagle's nest is. I know there's one on the Wash Parkway towards Alexandria. YOHABLO Apr 2018 #12
I'm not sure. Naturally, they're a little vague about the exact location of the nest. catbyte Apr 2018 #13

And IIRC, about as cute as it's ever going to get. From here on up it's pretty ugly until it starts to look like a Bald Eagle.

Wonderful photos. Thanks.

I had noticed for sometime the live D.C. cameras hadn't been working well. I will go check them out again. Thanks for posting this.

A friend of my wife from years ago (the friend, not my wife) is also a HUGE fan of eagle photography. He will often travel out here (BC coast) to take some of his amazing pics, because it must be the eagle capital of the world. (An ornithologist estimated somewhere between 50-60,000)

If you are traveling along the coast, it's not an exaggeration to say you could see a couple of hundred in a given day.

Again....great shots. Congratulations to you!

All they say is that it's in the National Arboretum. However, you can hear sirens going by all the time, so they're near some major thoroughfare. There's also another nesting pair in the DC area--Liberty & Justice--sponsored by the Earth Conservation Corps. Here's the website for that cam & there is a detailed Google map of its location.
