CNN’s Jake Tapper blasted retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney on Thursday for implying that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) had broken under torture while he was a prisoner of war.

During an appearance on the Fox Business Network earlier Thursday, McInerney had told host Charles Payne that torture works, then claimed it was effective on McCain while he was a POW for five years in Vietnam. “That’s why they call him ‘Songbird John,’” McInerney said.

There’s no evidence that McCain ― who is currently at his home in Arizona battling brain cancer ― ever betrayed his country in captivity.

An angry Tapper defended the veteran senator: “First of all, no one calls him ‘Songbird John’ except for crazy people and jerks — and I’m using my language carefully here.”

CNN political analyst Jeffrey Toobin called McInerney’s comments “sickening and disgusting.” ................................

That a retired general would claim something so untrue against another service member for political reasons, and when he's battling such a serious illness. This is typical of rump supporters, lie , and attack people , then repeat. Attacking a service member like this is totally wrong, and he should be asked to take back his false comments , and claims.

11. They seem to think this administration has restored "respect" for the country

and that comes from a very high ranking official I know. Its insane, the facts prove otherwise, the world is laughing at this country.

My take on this is that military men want war, that is their thing, and when the possibility of that happening, they all gather behind the person who will allow them to go and play with their guns.

Some of the methodology dictatorships use comprises a calculated effort to corrupt the military, you will see military people getting promotions they don't deserve, put in political jobs for decision making, and whoever thinks that the military cannot be corrupted has not been paying attention. We saw David Petraeus betray his country by giving out top secret information to a mistress, Flynn who also betrayed his country and we don't know if it was for money or the sense of power, etc., etc. This is dangerous, when they grab the military by the balls then all goes to hell, very hard for citizens to fight the might of their power, and let us not forget that when the military becomes corrupt, so does the police and other "law enforcement" agencies go with it.
