When Republicons lie, they know they are lying.

(90,785 posts)There's a philosophical argument that if you don't know you're lying then you aren't lying.
Repeating a falsehood told to you, for example. But once corrected, you accept the correction, and don't repeat the lie again. Even apologize for your part in the lie. Otherwise, you're straight up lying each time you repeat it.
But if you know you don't know the answer/truth and still maintain what you're saying is true, then you are lying.
I think Trump doesn't care that he's lying when he is ignorant of facts.
Mainly because Trump accepts that ignorance as fact. He doesn't bother to find out if something is true or not as long as it makes him feel good.
I also think he knowingly lies when he is cognizant of the facts.
He lies because he enjoys the response to his lies - whether he is telling the lie from ignorance or awareness. The lies make him feel good.

(411 posts)I have spent many years with Republican in-laws and it took time to understand where they came from. They always respond with what will make their cause go further...that equals thier truth. It does not have to do with an awareness of lying or not lying, it is pursuing their cause at all costs.
