I haven't heard Dingbat mention it. I haven't heard the Huckster cite examples.
Isn't that odd?
They said people would feel it in their February pay checks. that's been 3 months ago.
I don't know because I don't have taxes withheld.

(25,857 posts)I didn't pay any federal or state income taxes. Guess that's a clue as to how low my income is.
I do think the increased personal exemption will help me out if I decide to take a part time or temporary job and earn some money.

(42,770 posts)him say so many times that in February people will see it in their checks. I just haven't heard a single person go "WOW" about it and I see many people who get regular paychecks twice a month w/ Fed withholding.

(9,535 posts)on the other hand I got a windfall from a lawsuit settlement that would've put me in a high tax bracket just for this year, and now that bracket will be lower than before the tax cuts.
I opposed the cuts, and am using some of my savings to do good works with the money, notably supporting nonprofit news in the public interest and community causes, as well as indulging in one life-long dream vacation as I near retirement age.

I read that the fucking moron is going to ask for more tax cuts before the midterms. The poorer GOP voters didn't like the last one when they realized what it did to them and the rich. I hope this "new" tax cut plan makes them vote Dem in the midterms. I know the farmers are not happy with tariffs. Neither are the workers in plants and factories whose corporate owners didn't pass their financial gains down to the workers and instead moved their plants to other countries and then they were laid off.
The Dems need to run on issues like this and affordable healthcare, infrastructure and local issues that will improve their quality of life.

(11,949 posts)Which is just fucking stupid.
We are pretty high income, no kids, no debt, good retirement and savings and just over 50. We should be paying more Taxes!
The employees who work for me and earn between 50-75k per year? They got beans.
This tax cut was not intended for nor does it really help middle class Americans.
Laura PourMeADrink
(42,770 posts)Probably why they keep touting the unemployment numbers. If many many people in the middle class had started to see more money in February we'd be hearing about it. And then, gas has gone up.
GulfCoast66
(11,949 posts)And gas prices are eating that up.
My income level got some... but we did not really need it. An extra 4K a year is nice, but it is at huge cost to the nation and pales next to the true beneficiaries of the tax cuts- the super rich.

(14,531 posts)is when people file year end taxes. How does the lower (bi)weekly withheld amount affect your end of year tax filing?
Laura PourMeADrink
(42,770 posts)Anyway. Guess the tax tables were rebuilt to include the change in exemption amounts then applied the new rates. But so much depends on whether you itemized in the past. It will probably be all fucked up when we do 2018 taxes. They hardly spent anytime at all really studying all the impacts.
