White Guy Tries To Mansplain MLK’s ‘I Have A Dream’ Speech To MLK’s Own Daughter

It’s hard to imagine the gall it takes to explain Martin Luther King Jr. to his own daughter, but a handful of white guys on Twitter recently attempted to do just that.

It all began when comedian Josh Denny met with some serious Twitter backlash when he claimed that “straight, white male” is the new “N-word.” (A claim which preposterously and conveniently ignores the country’s history of white male privilege.)

Denny dug into his claims, asserting that the term was now used as a way to shut down a person’s opinions based on their “label” — which, Denny says, is a kind of “racism.”



Denny’s assertion was quickly shut down when MLK’s own daughter, Bernice King, chimed in to remind Denny that there is actually a very distinct difference between the racism her father fought against and the perceived oppression currently being experienced by “straight, white males.”

1. 'This is my country!' Woman Racially Abuses Asian Man During Road Rage in Fremont

A woman who targeted an Asian man while driving in Fremont, California, is the latest racist causing furor on social media.

The incident, which occurred last week, took off because James Ahn “wasn’t driving fast enough” for the woman.

“I was driving in Fremont last week and this lady started the racial harassment while threatening me on the road only because I wasn’t driving fast enough for her,” Ahn wrote on Facebook.

According to Ahn, he was driving at 35 miles per hour, the posted limit, but the woman wanted him “to move out of her way because she was speeding.”

“As I changed the lane, she kept driving towards my car gesturing to crush me and cutting in front of me to slam on the break,” he added.



However, Ahn suspected that the tension escalated more out of hate than road rage.

According to Ahn, who is reportedly a Korean American Air Force veteran, the woman began her torrent of abuse because she claimed he was not driving fast enough.

“I was driving at the posted speed limit of 35mph but she wanted me to move out of her way cause she was speeding,” Ahn wrote in the post. “As I changed the lane, she kept driving towards my car gesturing to crush me and cutting in front of me to slam on the break.”

In the video clip attached to the post, the woman is heard shouting from her car, “I’m not Chinese. This is my country. This is not a Chinese [country]. Oh, My God, Chinese ugly … ugly Chinese.” She is also seen pulling her eyes back.

Ahn says he plans to press charges against the woman after recording her numberplate: 7WQG683. He encouraged people to share his post in case she is seen again on the road.

“FYI racist lady, this is my country since I am a citizen plus veteran currently serving the country,” Ahn wrote. “Do not disrespect anyone by their race!”

2. Ranting Racist on New York Train Receives Hate Crime Charge

Although he claimed it wasn’t him in last month’s Long Island Railroad viral video of a man’s racist rant towards a black woman, 58-year-old Edward Ruggerio has been charged by the Queens, NY District Attorney with menacing as a hate crime.

In addition to the hate crime, Ruggerio was also charged with a count of second-degree aggravated harassment — both crimes come with a $1,000 fine and up to a year in jail.

In the video, Ruggerio’s minute wypipo rant he called a black woman he was arguing with everything from a monkey-fucker to a bitch.

“Shut the fuck up, you fucking loud-mouthed monkey motherfucker,” he yelled.

“I can’t listen to your fucking black ass no more ... You fucking loudmouthed bitch ... At least I got a fucking mother. Do you know who your mother is? You don’t know who your mother or your father is because you’re a fucking monkey, that’s why.”

After the video went viral, he was quickly identified but of course he denied it was him.

3. The NFL Will Fine Players Who Protest During Anthem, Proving White Tears Matter More Than Black Live

Welp, it’s official, and if you didn’t see this coming, you haven’t been watching. Surprising only those who still believe in fairy tales like Bigfoot, reverse racism and R. Kelly’s innocence, NFL team owners voted Wednesday to approve a policy that requires all players on the field to stand during the national anthem performance, proving the long-held belief that white feelings are more valuable than black life.

The concession that the NFL has given players who want to protest against the unjust killings of unarmed African-American men, women and children is this: Stay in the locker room if they can’t stand during the protest, which is like telling the people who protested segregated lunch counters that they could hold sit-ins, as long as they did it in the Negro section of the diner.

If a player takes the field and decides to sit or kneel in protest during the anthem, the team will be fined, and the team has the right to fine those players it deems not having been respectful during the national anthem.

“We want people to be respectful of the national anthem,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said, ESPN reports. “We want people to stand—that’s all personnel—and make sure they treat this moment in a respectful fashion. That’s something we think we owe. (But) we were also very sensitive to give players choices.”

While the actual limits of said fines remain unclear, what is clear is that white tears beat out black protest. From the beginning, the Movement for Black Lives protest was never about patriotism. It never mattered that former quarterback Colin Kaepernick consulted former Seahawks player and Green Beret Nate Boyer, who talked Kap into kneeling during the anthem instead of sitting.

4. Oakland councilwoman has plans for man who was hassled for 'BBQing while black'

Oakland City Councilwoman Rebecca Kaplan has proposed that one of the men who had the cops called on him while barbecuing at Lake Merritt earlier this month serve on the commission that helps make rules for Oakland's parks.
"I recommend Kenzie Smith, for the Parks and Rec Advisory Commission," Kaplan wrote on Twitter on Wednesday morning. "Now known for 'BBQ while Black' incident, he's a magazine founder, lifelong Oakland resident and more."
"He'd make sure the regulations for our parks are clear and fair, improve jobs and keeping our parks clean."
The recommendation would need to be approved by Mayor Libby Schaaf. Smith told the East Bay Express that he was excited at the possibility of serving in the role.
"I'm not going to let someone else have a 'BBQ Becky,'" he said, referring to the nickname that's been given to the woman who called the cops on the barbecuers.

19. Twice now, I've ended...let's call them "discussions"....about white privilege even existing.

It may well be that the con sides of each argument were particularly unschooled debaters, rendered less than eloquent by their apparent rage, or perhaps just plain dumb. In any case, or at least in these two cases, sputtering was the best they could manage.

A sure example of white privilege, said I, is that a white person has a high degree of confidence that they will survive their next traffic stop.

Has anyone ever heard of white parents feeling it's imperative they teach their children the skills needed to avoid being beaten, or worse, during an encounter with police? Of course not - their children can blithely wander through life unwoke and unthreatened, simply by not exhibiting behavior that would get them expelled from school.

In the extremely unlikely event they don't, they are either desperate felons or did something unutterably stupid.
