I tend to ignore messages about fundraising "deadlines" and "hours left" to make a contribution. I know that political campaigns do those kinds of things because they're effective in fundraising, and I'm not really put off by all their gimmickry, even though it doesn't work on a lot of us.
But I wanted to support the campaign, so I just up and made a contribution. I didn't even look back to their emails for the link, I just googled and got it:
http://www.barackobama.com/
Easy-peasy.
I'd already contributed to congressional campaigns, and figured it was about time I kick in for the Main Event.
There are times when you just gotta put your money where your mouth is.

(11,923 posts)I've been sending $25 whenever I can through the site. They called me
from OFA last night to see if I would up to the $100 or
$150. I told them I couldn't, but I'd give another $25
that I had saved out of my 'bill' money.
The girl wasn't too happy when I told her that I would
log on right away and do a web transaction. She didn't
seem to understand why I didn't want to give her my
credit info over the phone when she said she'd send my
receipt to my email. I realize she didn't get 'credit' for
my donation, but 'oh well!'. I just had to get a new card
because somebody from TX used my card to try to pay a closing
company in Brazil $3K. I'm being extra careful where I
use it.
