Thinking beyond Trump: Why we need a federal jobs guarantee

We must not forget the economic frustrations that helped fuel Trump’s election. For too long, too many Americans have faced lousy jobs or no jobs. One answer: A guaranteed job at a living wage.

1. I think if we're going to dream big, we might as well go all the way

and shoot for a universal basic income. If one is politically attainable, the other likely is as well, and a UBI would be better.

2. I doubt that 'the other is likely as well,' as the 'other' appears extreme,

in the U.S. at least.

A 'guaranteed job,' of course, doesn't mean the job of one's dreams, and surely not the job one had in the past, and obviously not with the same pay.
