How long did Greitens battle these charges? How long did it take for his own party to get disgusted with him and turn on him? How long did the steady drumbeat of public opinion bang away at Greitens? How much personal degradation and humiliation did Greitens endure, all the while knowing that this was not going to end well for him?

Now consider Trump, his relationship to his party, the public expression of opposition to him, and the amount of calumny heaped on his cotton candy covered head. This is going to take a little while, I'm sorry to say. But we have to keep at it.
