I don't think Adam Smith deserved to be fired (the Chic Fil A drive through guy)

He made a poor choice, but I've seen worse encounters. By firing him, the hateful RW has won once again!

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, it's this guy:

This CFO, certainly knew the way things are run, and could have gone to the corporate headquarters. No, he goes after the hapless server who is ordered to show him respect and smile no matter what he spews.

I believe the guy is a right winger, doing a number on the opposition. I'll bet the main viewers of this guy's video are using it to smear gays and their supporters.

The power dynamic here is obvious, well-off guy in car with camera abuses his gift of free water, gloats about it and insults the help and says he's against hate and is a nice guy. Really?

Yeah, and Dennis O'Keefe and Andrew Breitbart were nice guys.

to certify he was not gay, as he put it not even a bit of gay in him to paraphrase and that he was totally heterosexual. I wonder why he had to caveat his punishment of a low level worker with that?? Why was he so worried she might think he was, or was that for his youtube buddies?? You could be on to something in my humble opinion.

If that was the case he has a superbly stupid way of doing it.

In your scenario he thought:

Let's hit on this girl, video tape her getting belittled by him for her desire to earn a paycheck in a low level position. Post it to youtube and brag about it, for all the world to see. Typical 1% RW behavior to me. But if that is how a CFO making 250000 a year picks up 8.00 an hour young ladies; then I guess I am out of touch with what you think and society thinks.

That's more than just being an employee there, and officers are held to a much stricter standard of behavior.

His "poor choice" showed incredibly bad judgement. Being fired does not mean the company agrees with Chik-fil-A. It does mean that there are appropriate ways of disagreeing with Chik, and inappropriate ways.

If he was in any way rude to the employee, who is only doing what she must to support herself, than it was totally wrong.

And nobody how his demeanor toward her, videotaping it and posting it reflects poorly on his own company.

which are terrible things. People are associating this with truly awful behavior toward workers which is reprehensible.

But this guy doesn't do anything like that. He says "I know" and "i totally understand", and "see ya later guys" at the end. Insensitive imo when he judges her for working there, but everything else was directed at the company and not her.

I hope someone finds Rachel and asks her what she thinks.

you are usually required to sign a code of conduct contract that lays out what is expected of you on or off the job, one of the specifics is don't do anything that will bring embarrassment to you or your employer, which he clearly did.

Also Smith probably earns about $250,000 a year and probably has a company vehicle that he was probably in when he idiotically berated that young lady who is just trying to get by on minimum wage.

So, yeah, he deserved to be terminated.

I don't think it took much more than showing this video to his boss(es) to get them to decide to let him go.
