What happens to people?

Just left my son's HS tennis banquet. White, Indian, biracial, and African American kids with an exchange student and an adopted sister each from a place the pResident would refer to as shithole countries.

All smiling, slapping hands, and hugging.

What happens that will warp some of those young men over the next few years? And how do we keep it from happening?

The entire 5-6 am hour was stories designed to wind up the base for the day.

IMHO, most males have a need to "win" or at least look around them and feel satisfaction they are doing better than others. If there are guaranteed "losers" in the competition, it makes it easier. Simply, they will learn about white privilege - some lucked out and others are SOL.
