She is no longer in a position of power, nor in the news much (she is NOW, of course).
So I wonder why Barr singled her out...
Anybody have a guess?

(81,514 posts)How Valerie Jarrett became a target of the right

This most recent attack is far from the first time Jarrett has been the subject of criticism and vitriol at the hands of conservatives. As one of the only black women to ever serve as a senior official in the White House, she took a particularly noticeable role.
Jarrett served as senior adviser and assistant to the president for intergovernmental relations and public affairs, but her access to the president allowed her to wield incredible influence on everything from economic policy and Supreme Court appointments to seating arrangements at state dinners.
A particularly critical 2014 column in Politico titled "Fire Valerie Jarrett" called her "more an obstructer than a facilitator" and advised the president to "get her out of the way of the hard work of governing that needs to be done."
A profile in the New Republic titled "The Obama Whisperer" deemed Jarrett "uniquely unqualified" for keeping the president in check, and called her approach towards dealing with activist groups "a tactical mess." The Washington Times then accused Jarrett of "playing the gender card" in responding to the pieces.

(58,785 posts)industry forum dominated by conservatives I'd notice they were often trading lies about people I'd never heard of, or barely heard of. Important people to them. Between overflowing nastiness needing new targets and those circular conspiracy theories needing to explain everything, they "knew" all kinds of sinister things about various names that had shown up in political articles.
And as said, of course, Jarrett was a black woman in the Obama White House. Less prominent than black AG Eric Holder, but no way she wasn't going to put to use.

Rosanne knows of her because all the bigots read the same propaganda.

(9,350 posts)I think Roseanne Barr was responding to a tweet of one of her followers. I think one of her followers said something about Valarie Jarret being a horrible person. Barr then made her comment.

(14,532 posts)Roseanne's excuse is, she didn't know Jarret is black. Seems awful odd to me that the only times she compares people to apes, they are also black. I have not heard of her comparing a white person to an ape.
