I hope they understand that it is our government and only some of our people and don't take it out on the rest of us. I was thinking of going to Europe this summer (basically free trip w/ a friend) but now I am not so sure. I don't want to be greeted with hostility.

go to France, the French hear us speaking and they assume we're English, until we explain that we are Irish ! Everything is grand then So, just let them know that Trump is insane and you'll be fine !

unlucky to meet a pro Trump European. You might meet someone who is disengaged with what is going on in the U.S. and thinks trump is a laugh but they normally would have no skin in the game. The same who thinks ole Nige gave it to the EU.

If you wear something, like a t-shirt that says you hate Trump. A picture of his face with an X on it will do the trick.

You’re more likely to be greeted with joyous fanfare!

from luggage and clothing during the time I was overseas. Being naturally curious and interactive with locals, especially in the Middle East, everyone assumed I was CANADIAN... (I did not disabuse them of the notion).

It HAS to be infinitely worse now. While I do think a lot of people would blame Trump, the fact is they are as wary of who may have voted FOR HIM, as we are in meeting fellow Americans, who we SUSPECT may be RWers.
