He interviewed a reporter who was the recipient of a nasty call from Trump, in the 80s, I think, yelling at her and, of course, using the C word. He later talked to her editor with the dame tirade.

So, he is hypocrite, nothing new about that.

In another segment Smerconish expressed his dismay that some would not do business, or visit a doctor, if the other party holds an opposing political opinion.

As long as a service person - plumber, for example - does not wear that red hat or express an opinion, I don't care where he or she stands. I certainly am not going to start talking politics, though if they come in October, the yard signs in front of my home express all that needs to be said. Same will be for a doctor office. If there are no signs on the front desk, I don't care.

And then, two years ago we needed some small carpentry work. Several blocks down from us someone would have a little flyer holder announcing him to be a weekend carpenter. First came the yards for Republicans running locally. This gave me a pause. And then the Trump sign came - no way would I even approach him.

1. Sometimes you gotta do whatcha gotta do.

As a native resident of Colorado, I was very excited about the nominating convention in Denver. At the time, I was living in an apartment that I'd occupied for a dozen years. The complex was sold, and the new owners came by to fix a leaky faucet. They noticed the stacks of Obama gear in my living room and made some comments that just astounded me. I remarked that they were repeating sentiments being circulated by Storm Front, KKK, and Aryan Nations. She smiled and said, "Our whole family is Klan."

I moved. Yes, they are entitled to their opinion, but there was no way in hell I was going to help them donate to that ugliness. And, sad to say, they've turned a once-lovely property into a weed patch.

As for my various doctors offices, the only one that ever had the TV on was the proctologist. It was on Fox, and I was going to say something but got stuck on the giggles thinking that it was weirdly appropriate for that particular practice.

2. I felt the same way.

In 2012 there was a woman with a Romney/Ryan bumper sticker at the school bus stop each day. I formed all kinds of opinions of her. That was then. I found out later she was a nice person.

At work I avoided political talk. These two guys I ate lunch with...one who lived his life by the Bible said that Obama care was socialism. I remarked that private insurance puts out the care and asked where the heck was the socialist part. He had no comeback. But at least he was a friend and could admit some stuff.

Now I don't even begin to accept Trump voters. They are beyond anything. I just avoid them and say nothing. They love confrontation for the sake of it and I hate it.

3. I'd rather not know what a professional's politics are

and go by their ability. The only time that I let it influence me was some years back. I was going into this small car dealership office to buy a used car that I really wanted. When I started to open the front door they had a sticker on it showing a clown face with a big X over it saying "No Democrat Bozo's". OK, I didn't go any further, I didn't want to taint them with my Bozo money! Their loss, I found another car a few months later. I really don't know why any business wants to alienate customers that way.
