This is my Sisters interpretation of Authoritarianism

She reads Info Wars, Breitbart and the like and has for years, my question is she lost? Is there no redemption for her, and where does she get this? I think I just answered my question Below is what she emailed me:

Do you realize that this interpretation is that the Rule of Law is Authoritarianism? Which includes the following:

1. Be Respectful of others. Just be kind to strangers.
2. Follow the 10 Commandments, do not kill, do not steal, etc. YOU DON”T LIKE PEOPLE STEALING YOUR SHIT! That is authoritarianism. Forgiveness is forgiving someone who stole a loaf of bread to feed the family. Authoritarianism is throwing someone in jail for stealing a 60 in TV because he wanted it.
3. Follow traffic laws and don’t text and drive, don’t drink and drive, etc. That is authoritarianism.
4. Pick up your dog shit if it shits on your neighbors lawn, and yes that is following the rules and being respectful of your neighbors.
5. Follow Christ’s words. Feed the Poor, Heal the Sick, Educate the Young, Pray, and just be helpful and not a road block to others in need.

So that is my view, Authoritarianism, is FOLLOW THE RULES and don’t be needy or a burden to society. Its much more complicated than saying intolerant. I think intolerant are like Pit Bull owners, they don’t give a shit even if it kills the next door neighbors dog, or even a family member. I’m still trying to figure out Pit Bull owners, it crosses Democrats and Republicans equally, owning a dog that will kill your kids, your neighbors and your neighbors pets and animals. It’s a mind set that I don’t think has been understood. The alpha male thing, the woman who wants pits because they think they are serving Christ. And then Gun owners, they cross both party lines equally, just like Pit owners. It’s a mind set, much like narcissism, or what the Greeks called Narcissus

It talked about intolerant people and how they were more accepting of an Authoritarian style rule. I thought it was fascinating because it explained why the Donald was always trying to spread intolerance. It suddenly opened a window for me. I opened her email at 4 am, and read that, it took my breath away! I am stunned. I always say when you get mad, stay away from the source of your anger for a few days till your head clears up, but this is not going to clear up.

following the 10 Commandments, and the rest is authoritarianism.

So not following the rules, being cruel to strangers, stealing, and so on is . . . what?

That is a big leap. It just seems to me that the very nature of an Authoritarian goes against that assumption. History demonstrates that. Yes she definitely swallowed that Kool-Aid. Plus what does Pit Bull owners have to do with Authoritarianism. If you look it up on Wikipedia, it lists several different types and sub-types of this type of governance, lots of big words that have to be looked up. No mention of the 10 commandments or anything else. She must be getting this off a right wing site somewhere that has abducted the Christian faith and is using it to further their own agenda. I think that went over her head.

structure in that missive do not strike me as the work of anyone I would deem “intelligent” in any way.

It’s just garbled word salad devoid of any actual argument or position.

It makes no sense, but she is my sister. I think the more they divide us the more they win. We have been on different sides for years and I was always able to ignore her. Now she is pissing me off, and with that they win. I refuse to let them win. There must be a way, we have got to find that way. So I use the bible as a tool and point out how it warns us of false prophets. It also warns us of people who stand on a soap box and proclaim their faith, it says that you should pray in private. It also says that God whispers, that you need to be quiet and listen. That is one thing I learned from the Baptist church that I attended for 10 years. Yes I have a LOT of problems with the church. It is by its nature authoritarian. But when you quote the Bible they do listen. When I pointed out its warning of false prophets she did hear me. We need to overcome this, this is not optional, I think this is serious.
