How the media enables drumpf in one twitter thread.........

This is the same stuff that went on in the campaign.

Hey, ask yourself this, when was the last time you saw or read a news piece from a major media outlet featuring Clinton voters? What they think of drumpf now, how they are doing during his presidency, etc.

The media shows us one side of the coin all the time: drumpf and the GOP's. Sure they are critical of drumpf a lot but their own ethics don't allow them to say he is "wrong" or a "lair".... THEN GIVE THE DEMOCRATS A MICROPHONE. Let US say it! But we can't offer you any facts or proof or insight if you don't TALK TO US.

All they want is the "shocking" story to grab headlines......... i actually demonstrated this a relative a few weeks ago. I said to her, listen, i'm going to show you right now how drumpf grabbed all the air time and headlines and became president with the help of the media.

conversation went like this:

Me: "Did you hear about this racist guy in the West Virginia GOP Senate primary?"

Her: "Oh yeah, he's horrible."

Me: "Uh uh. He sure is. What's his name?"

Her: "Blankenship."

Me: Yup. And what are the names of the 2 guys he is running against?"

*Silence*

Then she started laughing. and I said, see, this is my point. As soon are you come out as racist and horrible, you instantly have a national microphone and national recognition. And I admitted to her, I didn't know the names of the other two guys either!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same thing with drumpf. The coverage of his campaign was unprecedented in American history as far as the time devoted to him compared to his competitors. It happened in the primary, and it happened in the general.

We need the fairness doctrine and some sort of equal time guarantee for media coverage.

"Blankenship."

Even in publications like the NYT .... Trump this, Trump that, he sucks all the air out of every other story. He gets so much free media exposure you would think there is only one party in this country.

Let's hear from the DEMS and what the DEMS are saying and doing and THEIR platform! C'mon, media! Let's see a headline without the name Trump in it!

can get through and I believe it's on purpose. He knows what he is doing. My biggest fear is that even once he is out of office he will continue this behavior and we will never really be rid of him until he is six-feet-under. Personally, that can't happen soon enough for me.

The orange guy is getting media coverage because he's doing stuff that's either stupid or illegal or guaranteed to make people argue -- IOW, stuff that's going to get people to read or watch the outlets. The media is a business that sells a product to advertisers: exposure to the public. And how well they can prove they get viewers is what makes their product attractive. We are not their customers in that we are not buying their product -- the advertisers are their customers.

Same argument for Facebook: the users are not their customers -- the advertisers are their customers.

For the most part, the Dems aren't doing anything that will generate the kind of public attention the media wants. They're either too nice, or too logical, or too restrained, or just not controversial enough. They need to get on the bandwagon.

THAT's clearly not happening.

Aside from that, I agree with you. They also need to make their own noise to counter Trump's lies. I've proposed a weekly press conference -- quite formal, quite NOISY too. Schumer and Pelosi, and select Commttee heads. I want them to go thru the week and counter Trump & Huckabee Sanders lies. I want them to make a noise about the DESTRUCTION of our government at his hands that week (complain about Pruitt, Zinke, DeVos, etc.). And I want them to make sure the press is there by making enough NOISE that the press wants to cover them -- I don't care how they do it, they just have to do it.

that's part of why Trump was elected in the first place.

And, there's been some diminishment in the "enthusiasm" factor for Dems recently and I personally believe it's entirely their quietude.

but none of them seem to be doing anything that the media considers "newsworthy" (IOW, that will attract viewers).

So there are two ways around this. One, they ASK to be on a show to talk about something specific. If the outlet considers it "newsworthy" (see above), they'll get on. Two, which is what Dems haven't done, is to get on a soapbox and make noise.

Not too long ago I would have written my MOCs (all three of them) with ideas on how to do this. By now I've given up. Might as well talk to a brick wall -- it'll ignore me, but at least it won't ask for a donation.

As some genius said at some point, it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease.
