The President's Pardon of Kim Jong-un

That's effectively what it is. No one, not even Trump's most rabid supporters, will argue that Kim Jong-un is anything but a two-bit despot who starves, brutalizes and murders his own people and would love to do the same to us. Yet our President has praised him, elevated him and is about to put him up in a $6,000 a night hotel suite , all expenses paid by the taxpayers of the very country that Kim Jong-un would most like to annihilate. And, to add insult to injury, he welcomes into the Oval Office North Korea's spy-in-chief and poses with a cartoonish letter like he's just won a high school raffle.

9. Sorry but normalizing that regime for a minor Trumpian PR win will not lead to peace.

Trump is just helping Kim Jong Um stay in power. Human rights isn't even on the table for discussion.

Ever.

His only "deals" always involve him making promises he never keeps. The world now knows this, America is seen by most of the world as an enemy now.

to pardon anyone even hypothetically?

Contrary to most of US foreign policy, the US President is President of the United States.

I wasn't arguing that he had the power to pardon Kim Jong-un. I was saying that he effectively had. To pardon means to forgive or excuse.

Who is going to forgive us for the multiple wars we've started around the world that have killed hundreds of thousands of people? Who recently approved a torturer for CIA chief? Who supplies the bombs and ships that responsible for genocide in Yemen?

I guess the critics of negotiations would prefer yet another war.
