Bill Clinton's neighbor may have provided the answer to Trumps election

On CBS Sunday Morning Bill Clinton talked about one of his neighbors who displays a "Lock Her Up" sign in his window. The neighbor told Clinton that Obama and Hilary started the second civil war. I believe that Putin perceived the division in this country a result of Obama's election and seized the opportunity to promote the racist, birther, misogynist Trump to stoke the fires of discontent among the wing nuts. What better way to defeat this country than from within? I have said for some time that Obama's election will, in the future be viewed either as a great step forward or the beginning of the decline of our democracy.

I think that one of the final tipping points was that being elected the first woman President was going to be hard but doing so right after the first black President was too much for some people.

I'm not saying it's anything Obama did or didn't do, this (as the OP stated) was fanned to stay lit in people's minds. Trump was a chaos actor used by Putin. I doubt that even Putin didn't think he'd actually win but he could weaken the next POTUS and more importantly create chaos within the GOP/RNC.

Obama, and then Hillary, provided very high visibility targets - that allowed the racist, sexist votes to mobilize better. It could get worse if Dems nominate for 2020 a black woman candidate for President. If that person was also jewish or muslim . . .

This second guessing about whether or not the country was ready for a black president or how Obama could have done so much more for race relations....It pisses me off. Were we supposed to pander to the bigots another fifty years? Give racism as pass? We chose the most suitable candidates for the job: Barack and Hillary. We did not choose based on how many prejudiced voters we could get like the GOP did.

Just that the reactionary wing nuts were ripe for arousal. I voted for Obama twice and for Hilary. The reaction to Obama and Hilary just shows that this country has a long way to go in fulfilling the promise of freedom, equality and justice for all.

Caused the plantation elite and the hard white supremacists to absolutely freak out and engage in insurrection and treason. After the dust had settled, American democracy was greatly strengthened by removing the hypocrisy of slavery and attempting to codify into law equality (even if unsuccessful in practice for many years ). Of course, the MAGA crowd views all this as the beginning of the decline, hence the fetishism regarding Andrew Jackson.

Though ostensibly about the book Clinton and Patterson wrote together quite a bit of info was conveyed about other things.

the 2010 mid terms and then the big killer was the 2014 mid's. Working in Congressional Campaigns in both cycles, the misogynist's were running crazy under the surface and gaining strength and voice.

When door knocking and phone banking, some of the feedback was pure ugly. And of course,to damn many registered Dems just sat it out. This same smell came to the surface again after the Comey Letter. Have to say,it was surfacing a couple of weeks earlier. It all depended of News Media sources that our Registered voters used as their source.

Basically I’ve said that Trump’s election was mostly a white lash against Obama. Not it mention the fact that for 25 years, the GOPrs have been poisoning the political well against the Clintons.

Now we have an Internet troll in the White House.

Although the Russians interfered, we did this shit to ourselves.
