with anything, really. Impeachment is really our only protection against a rogue President. Clearly, the current Congress would not impeach and convict Trump.
The answer? The 2018 election. If we don't GOTV with a massive effort, we could lose. If we lose, Trump will be able to do as he pleases.

(3,050 posts)November will our Republics finest or final hour.
The Congress is not keeping the Executive branch in check and laws learned from Watergate have expired. This coupled with Gerrymandering, voter suppression, social media manipulation, Citzens United, the hacking bastards from Russia, China, North Korean does make this the most meaningful election in our history. What we have is precious and has been stolen.
Vote Democrat top to bottom.

(32,639 posts)They're not a MAGA idiots, but they're not necessarily going to jump ship either. By that I mean they're not magically turning into Democrats, just because they might see a problem or two with Trump.
So how can we capitalize on that? I don't know the answer but we need to figure this out. Remember when Roy Moore lost the special election in Alabama? A whole bunch of Republicans stayed home and didn't vote that day. The black women showed up and voted for Doug Jones, and that put him into the win column. It's because both things happened on the same day.
I think all the negative news about Moore really hammered home about what a bad candidate he was. Democrats have to be willing to do the negative stuff sometimes. We can't be going "high" all the time, and we can't ignore it when the opponents go "low." Certainly negative advertising has to be part of any winning strategy.
