Will there be confiscations? Will the owners of the cars have to salute the American flag as the military takes their cars away? Will there be any compensation for their cars?

(13,037 posts)Plus as others have noted all of them have us factories.
And anyway tarrifs never apply to stuff already imported.
But yes Trump would like something like that. Special exemptions for certified Republicans of course.

(13,870 posts)We have manufacturing plants for BMW (their largest in the world); Mercedes Benz; and Volvo, which is a Swedish run company owned by a Chinese firm. Plus, there are suppliers in 40 of the 46 counties, as well as hundreds of suppliers in other states.
The idea of "American" or "foreign" cars is ridiculous, and exists only to continue fooling the Trump votes into thinking he is protecting their jobs.

LADSON, SC (WCSC) -
The Mercedes-Benz Vans plant in Ladson is planning to open its doors ahead of schedule.
They announced on Wednesday that the expanded plant would be ready for business in less than a year.
The plant opened in 1999, and officials announced a $500 million expansion project to more than double its size in 2015.
Once the plant is fully operational, it plans to hire 1300 employees to manufacture an estimated 40,000 vans annually.

"So get on the eastbound 10 freeway... and by the way, how great were the election returns that I got 306 votes? OK... next exit at Del Mar Blvd.... oh by the way, the Democrats really need to exit this whole Russia investigation. There was no collusion! Make a right onto E. 64th St... lock her up!"

(638 posts)Isn't dumping most of its product line, it's refocusing on new SUVs and trucks as well as the Mustang. Not at all the same thing. Loved your Chump GPS, though.

(18,655 posts)I believe it would be a violation of the 4th and 5th amendments.
On the other hand I have had DUers tell me it is perfectly legal to outlaw items and then confiscate private property banned by that law without any compensation.

(14,967 posts)One of his financial disclosure forms from his early casino days is a matter of public record and it is listed as an asset along with a trust fund and a bank account.
At the time he was basically a typical rich New York trust fund baby -- and not even a remarkably rich one (within that rich-by-average-American-standard subset). He desperately wanted to be accepted and respected by the financial and social elite, and he never was. He was ALWAYS a joke to them, and nothing he ever tried changed that. He hasn't gotten over it, and won't ever.
