Is there a difference in racist rants and common obscenities?

Other than one attempting to smear a race of people with a characterization and the other attempting to smear one individual. That alone is quite a distinction, in my opinion, and is not a very good example of "double standard", as some would have us believe.

Perhaps it is only the mental incapacity to see the difference in the two? Sort of like some folks might have trouble distinguishing between chicken salad and chicken shit...

I would trust you to have the mental acumen to note the difference. kentuck Jun 2018 #4
I jest of course. Although my mental acumen has often been questioned! dameatball Jun 2018 #5

I'm sure you need not worry about the food at his house. He was obviously intending the slur for the knuckle draggers.

Let's say I call a guy a pussy. The common use of that term would mean I was saying he is weak, he is a woman. How is that smearing only an individual? I'm inherently saying women are weaker. Like if I call a woman a bitch, the cultural baggage means I'm using negative implications based on women.

If I say somebody is a piece of shit, I'm smearing them as an individual. But if I'm using a gendered slur, it implies that the relevant gender has those negative attributes and thus the smear is against the gender.

But I don't think it applies to the present controversy between Roseanne and Samantha Bee? Or perhaps I should have been more specific with my post?
