ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- A senior Pakistani officials says U.S. drone strikes in his country are "undermining the democratic government" of Pakistan.
Wajid Shamsul Hasan, the high commissioner to London and one of Pakistan's top ambassadors, said CIA drone strikes in Pakistan's tribal areas are hindering Pakistan's progress toward democracy, The Guardian (Britain) reported.
"What has been the whole outcome of these drone attacks is that you have directly or indirectly contributed to destabilizing or undermining the democratic government," he said.
Anti-U.S. sentiment is growing high throughout Pakistan, Hasan said.
"Even those who were supporting us in the border areas have now become our enemies," he said. "They say that we are partners in these crimes against the people. By and large you will hardly find anybody who will say a word in support of the United States, because of these drone attacks."

Where's the effort in Congress to halt these extrajudicial drone slaughterings?
Does it ever occur to anyone that the more civilians and suspects slaughtered without trial or any evidence provided will only incite more hatred towards the US and possibly motivate people to consider engaging in violent retribution due to the ever-increasing death toll?

(2,627 posts)2. The majority of the US Congress has proven beyond any reasonable doubt that they are useless
and uninterested in investigating anything legal or illegal that either the military or the unknown number of clandestine agencies are doing around the world in our names with taxpayer trillions.
As to the assassinations, it's indeed more than troubling that President Obama's fix to Abu Ghraib and Gitmo detainees and torture, has been to kill anyone determined to be an enemy combatant. Would the Executive Office and State Department be accepting of drone kills if they were done by Russian attacks in Chechnya or Chinese attacks in Tibet?
