Preet Bharara explains to Jake Tapper how much trouble Manafort faces: ‘In every way it’s terrible for him’

On Tuesday’s episode CNN’s the Lead with Jack Tapper, former US Attorney Preet Bharara explained just how screwed former Trump adviser Paul Manafort is following revelations that he may have tampered with witnesses.

“In every way it’s terrible for him,” Bharara said.

He explained that prosecutors often put pressure on people lower on the food chain if they can threaten actual jail time. “You wonder if someone is going to flip,” Bharara said.

Even house arrest is better than jail, Bharara pointed out, joking that you can still watch cable news from home.

“The one thing that gets the mind to focus is the loss of liberty,” he concluded.

From The “Esteemed” President Trump, then it’s game over. I see nothing coming out of the Investigation, beyond a string of get out of jail free card.

and are forced to testify in that they can face contempt of court charges and even be sentenced to jail time until they testify. Remember Judy Miller of the New York Times?

And Judy Miller to claim freedom of the press.

Manafort lives in Virginia and NYC. How much you wanna bet he did some of his crooked work in both of those?

I think what they're holding back is charging him with "The Big T." Want to get Manafort to start naming names? Just hit him with that TREASON charge. I think they can charge him with that and make it stick. But I also believe they're holding it back for strategic reasons. I think they're waiting to see what happens, and when Manafort gets just a little too smug, they'll have their "Columbo" moment. "Oh, there IS just.........ONE more thing.........."
