(149,640 posts)My gut was wrong! Never been happier to be wrong. I was hopeful but extremely sceptical she would win, not because of the quality of our candidate but the lack of quality in my neighbors. A small bit of faith has been restored!

(9,481 posts)Based on the total vote counts post on the CNN website for Statewide races in Ohio and Indiana, I'm seeing Republican vote totals much greater than Democrat vote totals with 99%+ in.

(8,652 posts)Added - okay - these numbers were from May 8th (not this Tuesday), but they are from 2018.
(You will need to do a little math to combine the vote totals of each candidate for each party)
Indiana election results
[link:https://www.cnn.com/election/2018/primaries/indiana/all/democratic|
Indiana -Senate
Democrat total = 287,596
Republican total = 506,609
Ohio - Senate
[link:https://www.cnn.com/election/2018/primaries/ohio/senate/democratic|
Democrat total = 605,573
Republican total = 760,808
Indiana Dem vote may be a little depressed because there was no competitive statewide office that I saw, but in Ohio the Dems had a competive primary for governor and the Republican advantage still held.
Not trying to pee on anyone's parade, but don't discount the Republican media ginning up their base while at the same time the 3rd party negative advertising onslaught tries to suppress Democrat turnout.

(9,481 posts)Total vote counts from Tuesday's data from New Jersey looks a little better with the combined Dem total clobbering the Republican total

I don't know if it's just the Midwest or what.

(8,652 posts)Of course, there's no New Jersey, Pennsylvania or Virginia.
I wonder if you post that pro-Democratic info on FR.
I am always skeptical of a newbie with few posts and no contribution (gold star).
I hope I'm wrong about you.

(29,674 posts)And has made her mark as an up and coming star in the state party.
Her win makes me cautiously optimistic for November wins for Hillary Shields, Renee Hoagensen and Claire McCaskill.
If you want an election in Missouri in November to watch-just one outside of Congress and Senate-watch Hillary Shields. I think she's definitely someone that could be a rising star.

(29,674 posts)She's an intern this summer and her boss has already sent messages about how this is great news for the campaign.
I know she'll beat Sykes and Monetti. I think she can beat party favorite Hawley, though it'll be closer. I worry that Austin Peterson will narrowly pull off the primary. He has that Libertarian Ron and Rand Paul feel and I think it could be bad for McCaskill.
