(27,815 posts)... during the 2016 primaries. He said he couldn't produce his tax returns because his wife was "the family accountant", and she "couldn't locate" the tax returns she'd filed for both of them the previous year.
Despite many promises that the returns would be found and produced, the mysterious documents never surfaced.
Apparently the genius that is Bernie didn't figure that everyone knows you can get copies of past returns directly from the IRS upon request.
He knew those returns would be expected - and yet he never bothered to ensure he had them on-hand when he decided to throw his hat in the ring, and never made any effort to obtain them.
What's in those returns that he didn't want the voters to know about? Just another one of those things that make you go "hmmmm" ...

However, since that time (according to his Senate filings) they have gone from a net worth of about $350,000 to almost $2,000,000.

(32,610 posts)Former Bernie Sanders Staffer Gets Crushed In Iowa House Primary
Pete DAlessandro, who ran Sanders Iowa operation and a number of other states for the candidate, pulled just 16 percent of the primary vote on Tuesday, far behind newly minted nominee Cindy Axnes 57 percent showing and trailing another Democrat in the contest. The Associated Press has called the race.
Sanders held a February rally for DAlessandro, cut a TV ad for him and helped him raise nearly half of his campaign funds in the race, but it wasnt enough.

(42,862 posts)Free this, free that... but never any details of how we're going to pay for it. Lot's of statements that begin with "what we need to do is..." or that start off with "all they need to do is..." --- but I've seen that it's EASY for any old schmoe to POINT TO a problem... but it takes a lot more to actually SOLVE a problem.
And when it comes to providing HONEST and WORKABLE ways to genuinely SOLVE problems... the old "burn it down / start over" mantra is NOT a solution. Threats of "third party" spoilers is NOT a solution.
Only WEAK candidates (politically and intellectually) and WEAK organizations turn to third-party destructionism policies and threats as a substitute for actual power. When a candidate or organization lacks any substance, this is what they do.
All I'm trying to say is that the the selfishness and VANITY of Jill Stein (and others like her) and the bitterness and resentment Our Revolution, and the anger of Sarandon end up causing more harm than good for liberal policies and causes. Their way of thinking leads to MORE suffering for the most vulnerable among us.
I think we can all agree that anyone who INTENTIONALLY attacks and harms Democrats... is benefiting the GOP. Anyone who purposely DENIGRATES AND DIVIDES Democrats... is benefiting the GOP. Anyone who does anything to weaken the party and damage Democratic candidates or advocating or THREATENING "third party" bullshit is giving the advantage to the GOP.
It's pretty clear to me that people are tired of Jane Sanders' third-party threats and they aren't buying what Bernie's "Our Revolution" group is selling.

(6,133 posts)Is Bernie a bad guy? Years of listening to him on Fridays on Thom Hartmann told me different.
Are the Clintons bad people? I never thought so. To blame Hillary for anything that Bill may have done is ludicrous. And to impeach for that?...that is on the Republicans...they did it.
Ive been here a long time and have tried to stay away from infighting. Maybe Im a peaceable person, but I will not take pleasure or celebrate someone on our side when they lose.
I wont use anything that gives the Republicans comfort. Bernie, like me is an FDR Democrat. He may call himself an independent, but he is a true Democrat.
I avoid the extra shit and work to get Democrats elected. It has been an easy choice for a long time.

(15,369 posts)"Our Revolution" at all and really know nothing about what Jane Sanders has recently said. Call me clueless, but I have been focusing more on Democratic races in my birth state of MT and my adoptive state of MD. I mailed my absentee ballot for MD's Dem primary last week.
To educate myself a bit more, I googled "Our Revolution" and "Jane Sanders" to find out what I could and didn't specifically see what some here seem to be referring to.
But among the other listings I found was this interesting article describing how Bernie's son Levi and his stepdaughter Carina Driscoll are both running for office in Vermont. The primary there will be held on August 14, definitely among the later ones.
Here is the article that I found: http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2018/03/sanders-has-2-problematic-family-members-running-for-office.html
Bernie Sanders Has Two Family Members Running For Office, And That Could Cause Real Trouble
Apparently Levi, who has never held elected office, has posted some silly things on Twitter. Carina's potential problems are described here:
It will be interesting to see what happens in August.

Its the Starbucks Revolution, they just pour it into a McDonald cup before walking into the office. Then they spend their days yelling at the entitled people who drink Starbucks. Our Revolution is full of frauds(not all of the people endorsed) and they arent smart enough to see how transparent it is.
