(89,252 posts)As I mentioned below, Nunes has won his last 2 elections by 35 and 34 points. Even with some of these 20 point swings we're seeing in other districts (Missouri-17), that would still be a 10-15 point win for Nunes.

(102,294 posts)He'll face a Democrat (Janz) in the General, but Janz has a real uphill climb to defeat him in November.

(51,611 posts)I saw Janz go around one of the towns in his district and the people wouldn't even speak to him or the MSNBC reporter and actually said to the camera, "You're fake news". The few people who would talk acted like they were going to a dentist appointment...they looked thrilled. Most of them cared about two things, immigrants and water for their farms. They thought Russia was a made up liberal story. I wonder how they will feel when the tariffs hurt their farms...water will not be a big issue any longer.

(90,714 posts)...we might have stood a chance of having a Dem against Nunes in November, but as it is, there is a very very slim margin between Repub #2 and Dem #1. That means that thanks to the "jungle primary" the November ballot may end up with Nunes and Repub #2 on the ballot.
Edited to add: hubby is watching the returns, while I am in another room. California Peggy is probably your better source than I.

(6,377 posts)Nunes and Democrat Andrew Janz are running away with it right now, according to New York Times.

(11,738 posts)There is no Republican #2 in the 22nd district. Nunes is the incumbent running without a challenger from the Republican party. Right now with 10% of the precincts voting Nunes 56% is going to be on the ballot, but Janz will be as well at 34%. The nearest challenger to the two is another Democrat at 5%.
