Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham won the Democratic nomination for governor of New Mexico in a race that is one of the partys best chance to flip a governors seat that is in Republican hands.
The Associated Press called the race for her over two challengers. In November, she will face Rep. Steve Pearce, who went unchallenged in the Republican primary. in November. GOP Gov. Susana Martinez is term-limited.
New Mexico has voted Democratic in the last three presidential elections, and nonpartisan analysts rated the governors race as a top pickup chance for the party.
