Andrew Janz

I don't know much about your local politicians, which is not surprising.

Each time I see the name of a candidate running for Congress, I try to learn a bit more about.

I did not learn much about Andrew Janz, but I liked the little I've read.

Good luck M. Janz, my best wishes and all the good vibes I can send you, from Belgium.

and send Andrew Janz a compaign contribution out to CA. I despise Devin Nunes and I want him gone. This is the first time I will be supporting out of state candidates (I am from FL) but if I want to live in a better America, I am going to have to help out my brothers & sisters in neighboring states rid themselves of idiots like Nunes, McCarthy or Rohrbacher.

Best wishes to Jamz indeed, but Nunes is in a SAFE-R district. The dollar you give him, is a dollar you don't give to one of the 50+ races that ARE competetive, and that we'll need to win most of to take the House.

One thing I've learned in politics is not to let emotion and anger cloud my judgement. I wasn't supporting Randy Bryce back when his pitch was "I'm running to beat Paul Ryan"; I supported him when Ryan retired and the race became a tossup.

I remember this article from McClatchey a few weeks ago that stated that Janz received more donation money from the actual folks living in the district than Nunes did.
"Of the more than $1 million Nunes raised from individual donors, roughly $19,000, or 2 percent, came from people in his district, which includes chunks of Fresno and Tulare Counties. That's the smallest percentage of any the eight California Republicans in Congress who Democrats are targeting for defeat this fall."

If it was meaningful, I wouldn't have winning Democrats coming to me for money in NY over the last 10 years.

I am not alone in my choices to financially support local and out of state candidates. I will be supporting Janz and whoever is the Democrat candidate for Issa's seat. And, the Democrat who runs for Paul Ryan's Congressional seat.

Every Democrat and true American should do the same.

I'm not being flippant here; I maintain an 8-page spreadsheet of every competitive race (Federal and State) in the Country, and I've learned to crunch data. There's nothing in the profile of this district that suggests it's competitive, least of all money:

Nunes (as of 5/18) raised $4.9 M, on hand $5.0 M
Janz (as of 5/18) raised $1.9 M, on hand $600 K

The ONLY reason to put money into this race is to make YOU feel virtuous; if that's more important than winning the House, knock yourself out.

I understand your point and I agree.

Being virtuous is nice, but it doesn't work (too much) in politic when it comes to run for a seat.

As I said in my OP, I'm in Belgium and don't know much about your local politicians. When I see a name, I try to learn a bit more about the candidate and give my opinion. It is not an advice, I'm not that arrogant to take such liberty.

I wish the best to M. Janz but if his chances are limited, it is better to donate to another candidate with better chances. It will be easier to get back to him when Dems will win the House and give him a stronger support.

has one of the safest Republican seats in the entire country - he won by 35% in 2016 and 34% in 2014.

Of course, Jeff Sessions held one of the safest senate seats in the country as well...
