1. Woah. Interesting to watch those dynamics across the drops.

Not having followed this race - so not knowing the dynamics around the various candidates - that last drop and final outcome is really interesting.

4. Thanks for the explanation.

Since I first read about how rank voting would work, I have been intrigued. But I don't live anywhere that is likely to implement it soon (blue dot in Indiana). It is really interesting to see how the results played out in real life.

5. What is your gut feel on Donnelly's chances? He is the most

likely to get bounced out on our side, IMHO. Really worried. North Dakota is weird with Senate so Heitkamp has a fairly good chance, and I think McCaskill holds on.

14. I have no idea. Running ads heavy (for him) - but I question

my gut. Going into 16 I thought the Governor would flip (folks hated Pence - til he was gone), and that Bayh (who I don't trust as far as I can throw him - more than any other recent dem senator - aside from Lieberman) had a great shot. And boom - big swing in the other direction. (Yes, here there was a trump momentum).

And I am in Bloomington (IU) and we are not representative of the state - so I can't judge by what I hear here.

If I start getting a vibe (beyond B-ton) I'll pass it on here.

From what I read here - and elsewhere on the national view - he has a slight edge, so I guess one can say cautiously optimistic?

9. Here in Ireland we have Multi-seat Proportional Representation with a Single Transferable Vote !

The single transferable vote (STV) is a voting system designed to achieve proportional representation through ranked voting in multi-seat organizations or constituencies (voting districts).[1] Under STV, an elector (voter) has a single vote that is initially allocated to their most preferred candidate. Votes are totalled and a quota (the number of votes required to win a seat) derived. If their candidate achieves quota, he/she is elected and in some STV systems any surplus vote is transferred to other candidates in proportion to the voters' stated preferences. If more candidates than seats remain, the bottom candidate is eliminated with his/her votes being transferred to other candidates as determined by the voters' stated preferences. These elections and eliminations, and vote transfers if applicable, continue until there are only as many candidates as there are unfilled seats. The specific method of transferring votes varies in different systems

I didn’t vote for her, the big money tech were pushing her. Leno would have been better. But the board of superiors will keep a check on her.

Mail-in ballots postmarked by yesterday (election day) will be accepted for the next three days... and then I guess provisional ballots are still being counted? Any others? I haven't been able to find any commentary regarding the likely preferences of the voters who cast these votes.

We were at the Leno block party in the Castro last night, but he hadn't pulled ahead by the time we left.

We have it here in MN for local elections. So far, there haven't been any surprises due to ranked choice voting.

In SF, the lead didn't switch between the two leaders until the last count. That's what I would expect to happen fairly often, and it did.

As ranked choice voting is used in more places, we'll see if it continues to work. If so, skepticism about it will fade.

It was fine, even though some voters grumbled about having to go vote more than once.
