"A protest against Menendez"

Politico:

Menendez won his Democratic primary on Tuesday. But nearly 40 percent of his party’s voters went for a little-known, underfunded local newspaper publisher rather than cast a ballot for the scandal-ridden New Jersey senator.

Now the question is whether Democrats will hold their noses and come home for Menendez in the fall.

Menendez, whose corruption trial last year resulted in a deadlock on bribery charges, beat Lisa McCormick easily. But the margin — he won just 62 percent of the vote, a weak primary performance for a veteran incumbent — showed that many Democrats remain uneasy with the ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

In the strongly Democratic state, Menendez will be the favorite against Republican Bob Hugin in the general election. Hugin, who is at least partially self-funding his campaign, has spent more than $2 million on ads.

It would be nice if Menendez stepped out after his "victory" and allowed a less at-risk Democrat run.

Wait; what's the point again? Menendez is "scandal-ridden," but none of the allegations against him seem to stick for some reason. So he should step down anyway because he keeps beating the rap?

Thank you, Politico; your deep concern for Democratic candidates is duly noted.

I don't assume the Republican will try the same approach.

He drove more people to the polls.

He beat his opponent yesterday 62% to 38%. An absolute beating.

"It would be nice if Menendez stepped out after his "victory" and allowed a less at-risk Democrat run. "

That is actually a victory, not a "victory".

"Menendez will be the favorite against Republican Bob Hugin in the general election. "

Menendez got more people to the polls than both Republicans combined.

Menendez got over 60%! Are there any comparable articles about Rohrabacher's stunning "victory" of 30%?

Here is what the LA Times said:

In the most closely watched local race of Tuesday’s primary election, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Costa Mesa) clinched a spot in November’s general election as he led a hefty field of challengers trying to oust him from his 48th Congressional District seat.

Maybe I don't know how to read, but I don't see that Rohrabacher got "only 30% of the vote." But we must point out that Menendez got "just 62%."

Tell me again how the media is so liberal...
