Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said Wednesday morning that DNC Chair Tom Perezs endorsement of New York governor Andrew Cuomo for that states governorship was absolutely a mistake.
To endorse one candidate over the other is not what the chair of the DNC should be doing, Sanders said during an interview with the Washington Post.
Perez had previously said that the national party shouldnt and wont endorse in primaries. But in May he endorsed incumbent Cuomo at an event in Long Island.
I have said
open the doors of the Democratic party. Welcome working people, welcome young people in, welcome idealism in, Sanders said.
Sanders said theres a lot of agreement between him, Perez and Clinton people on the issue of super delegates in elections.
You had super delegates voting for Clinton in states that I won pretty handsomely and I think there is a general feeling that that does not make a lot of sense, he said.

(7,113 posts)...but Bernie won't mention those, since he made his best 2016 showings in caucus elections.
It's probably better that the DNC chair remain neutral (Howard Dean said he didn't even vote in the primaries when he was chair, to maintain neutrality). At the same time, it seems rather unfair that a non-Dem like Bernie can make Dem primary endorsements all over the country but then squeal whenever actual Dem groups like the DNC or DCCC try to ensure the most electable candidates win.
