The political network backed by billionaire industrialists Charles and David Koch on Monday unveiled a multiyear, multimillion-dollar campaign opposing the tariffs implemented by President Donald Trump's administration.

Last week's decision by the Trump's administration to place tariffs on imported steel and aluminium from key U.S. allies the European Union, Canada and Mexico apparently was the tipping point for the influential Koch network, which typically supports Republicans and conservative causes. The group is now moving ahead with a pro-free trade campaign that will include media buys, activist education, grass-roots mobilization, lobbying and policy analysis.

Koch network groups Freedom Partners, Americans for Prosperity and the Libre Initiative made it clear in an announcement Monday that they are opposed to Trump's tariffs and that their media and PR blitz is determined to show the benefits of open trade policies.

Trump's a moron who has no clue how to do anything right. He is right, IMO, about the trade agreements we have signed over the last 30 years. Labor was never at the table in any of those negotiations. It was only multinational corporations, bankers, and billionaires doing the negotiating. They didn't give a shit about American jobs or American workers. They might have put on their rose-colored glasses and pretended no American jobs would be lost by letting Mexican or Chinese factories compete with American workers.

But instead of actually taking the time to do real research into the issues and talking to the other countries involved and getting input from people who actually know what they are doing, Trump just blast tweets out that we need to ban German auto imports or slap tariffs on Canadian steel. All he is doing is disrupting markets and alienating us from our allies. Instead of a reasoned, thoughtful discussion with other countries, it's hubris, acrimony and threats.

I think tariffs are needed in some cases to protect American jobs. Trump's moronic approach to them is doomed to fail and will only result in alienating our friends and turning us into a pariah nation. But don't throw away the baby with the bathwater, because the only thing worse than a feeble-minded idiot like Trump being President is supporting anything the Libertarian Koch brothers want to do. Their ultimate goal is free trade, completely open borders, a serf-like workforce and no government services. If you agree with ANYTHING the Koch brothers support, you may want to think again.

Canadian Imports. Remember, they own Georgia Pacific Paper Company. This operation buys much of its Raw Paper Stock from Canada. Especially their Green Bay Plants, which draw Paper from Dryden Ontario. Just one example.
