I never thought that singing the national anthem or reciting the pledge of allegiance would turn into a negative connotation for me, but w/ all this phony patriotism 45 keeps pulling, just watching some of the video from the "celebrate America" rally at the WH yesterday just about made me physically ill. I guess if I thought he meant it and wasn't just doing it b/c it plays well to his base I'd be less repulsed. But all this standing tall, shoulders back, nose in the air w/ his hand on his heart while we sing the national anthem, it all just comes across as fake BS. Made worse by the fact if you too don't stand w/ your hand on your heart pledging allegiance to old glory like you're in elementary school you're somehow not a patriotic American.
Same old BS from the GOP as 15 yrs ago. Tax cuts for the wealthy why telling us you weren't supporting the troops if you didn't support the war. Has anyone else started to feel this way as well?

(63,221 posts)What is even more sickening is that so many people fall for it hook, line and sinker. The republicans know how to play up this patriotism bullshit to suit their goals. None of them are sincere. They are all playing to their base, especially Trump.

(53,792 posts)plus there was a report today that he's on the phone with Putin everyday.
Putin is plotting world domination and IMO is using trump to get there.
Reminds me of the Mercedes/Chrysler merger "of equals" of a few years backturns out Chrysler found out who the real boss was in that operation. And it wasn't Chrysler.
Our country is being led down the garden path by a cunning manipulator and trump is his unwitting dupe.
