‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for . . . I was a stranger and you did not welcome me. . . .' Then they also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see thee . . . a stranger and did not minister to thee?’ Then he will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.’ And they will go away into eternal punishment. . . .'"

Matthew 25:42-46 (RSV)

See, also: Deuteronomy 10: 19 (You shall love the stranger, for you were once strangers in the land of Egypt.); Leviticus 19:34 (The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you.); Hebrews 13:1 (Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.)

Trump's supporters who claim to be Christian are surely aware of Matthew 25. They just choose to ignore it. Bad acts resulting from ignorance are more nearly understandable than knowing what is required and simply choosing to do otherwise.

The Evangelicals can't find their beliefs in the new testament because they are not there...the eye for an eye and smite everyone is in the old testament. Christianity is based on the new testament...so they deceive themselves. I hope some will repent but the arrogance makes be think many won't. And of course, supporting ripping kids from their parents and caging them is indefensible whether you are Christian or whatever...it is simply right vs wrong. I have a potty mouth(working on that/midwest plant influence that's my excuse) so I don't go out of my way to say stuff so as not make them say..."see, look how she talks". I often want to tell people...you find mostly sinners in church and that was how it was intended.

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations . . . teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19-20. That includes the commandment to welcome immigrants.

I appreciate that I appear to be in the minority but there are some of us out there.

32. District Court Judge Denounces Forced Child Separation as "Brutal" and Clear Constitutional Violatio
Wed Jun 6, 2018, 11:55 PM
Jun 2018

this is a clear constitutional law violation https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/06/district-court-judge-rules-that-trump-administration-child-separations-would-be-unconstitutional.html

From Sabraw’s ruling (emphasis added):

For Plaintiffs, the government actors responsible for the “care and custody” of migrant children have, in fact, become their persecutors. … These allegations sufficiently describe government conduct that arbitrarily tears at the sacred bond between parent and child, and is emblematic of the “exercise of power without any reasonable justification in the service of an otherwise legitimate governmental objective[.]” Such conduct, if true, as it is assumed to be on the present motion, is brutal, offensive, and fails to comport with traditional notions of fair play and decency. At a minimum, the facts alleged are sufficient to show the government conduct at issue “shocks the conscience” and violates Plaintiffs’ constitutional right to family integrity. Accordingly, Defendants’ motion to dismiss Plaintiffs’ due process claim is denied.

As Sabraw noted, he is still poised to rule on whether or not separated families will be certified as part of the ACLU’s requested class action lawsuit, and to determine if a preliminary injunction will be issued to halt a practice he describes as “brutal, offensive, and [failing] to comport with traditional notions of fair play and decency.” In other words, the class action question is still open, but his view that such a practice is shockingly cruel for constitutional purposes, does not seem to be in doubt.

The ACLU attorney who argued the case, Lee Gelernt, described the ruling to me as a powerful initial victory for his clients.

“This is an enormous ruling, there’s no question about it, because the major dispute between us and the government was whether there was a constitutional right [for] families … to remain together in these circumstances,” Gelernt told me.

The court has essentially said that the practice alleged in the suit—and reportedly taking place all across our border for the past month—is a gross violation of the U.S. constitution. Now it has merely to determine whether the practice is actually taking place.

This administration thinks that they can write the laws as they go. trmp's recent statement that he can pardon himself shows just how far he is willing to go to try to become god of the United States.

Remember DUers, the pendulem always swings back. Keep the faith. When we get this career criminal and his ass lickers out of office, I cannot wait for the laws to be passed that will prevent us from EVER having to endure another attempt at dictatorship.

We have got to remain strong. I have days where I just can't believe what is being allowed to occur in our names, and it sickens me, physically and emotionally. These criminals are trying their best to break us all of our American spirit. We just cannot let it happen.

So, again, tomorrow, I will take another deep breath and renew my hope.
