That Comey, like the rest of us, thought Hillary was going to win. He feared that if he didnt come out w/ that that he would be smeared all over RW media for years about how he was leading a conspiracy to help her get elected. So like the media that bends over backwards at times to the right wing to prove they arent "liberal", he came out with it. In the end we'll never truly know how much of an effect it had, but it certainly helped play into Trump's narrative of "Crooked Hillary". The thing I have always been pissed about that is that if they were able to truly comb through all those files in a few days like they did, why didnt they just do that and then release a briefing about it? Instead there was the HUGE HEADLINES about a NEW INVESTIGATION into Hillary Clinton.

12. We know a clique in the NY FBI were attempting to influence the election

by leaking misinformation about Clinton and the Justice investigation into the emails in the months just before November. We know Rudy Giuliani appeared to be their spokesperson, trumpeting the leak before it happened on the fake news network. From my perspective at the time, Comey publicly misrepresenting the investigation just before the election was just more of the same...all examples of federal employees using their offices to influence the outcome of an election.
