Kentucky drunk driver with .422 BAC kills Nazi

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/06/kentucky-nazi-killed-car-crash-alleged-killer-white-woman-sipped-bourbon-babysitting-drunk-enough-coma/

Emily Sherry, 23, is from Newport, a Cincinnati suburb and was driving eastbound on Interstate 275 when she allegedly hit a Toyota Camry driven by Robert Ransdell, 37. He was found dead at the scene.

---------------------------

Sherry allegedly told police that she was drinking bourbon while babysitting before killing the Nazi. She was reportedly “intoxicated to such an ‘extraordinary degree’ officers felt it would have been unsafe for her to perform standard sobriety tests.” Her alleged blood alcohol concentration was .422, and BAC level over .4 can lead to coma or death.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have to admit that I'm severely conflicted. Karma gets a twofer? Proof of God's existence?

How about someone start a Gofundme for a really good rehab for when she gets out of jail?

But I'm laughing my a$$ off. I can't help it.

Ransdell was a leader in a neo-Nazi group called the National Alliance and ran for U.S. Senate in Kentucky in 2014 with the slogan “With Jews, we lose.”

made up by a drunk? - I must be missing something . . .

back in the 70s. There was supposedly a girl who had an acid flashback and put the baby in the microwave. Thought it was a turkey. That’ll teach people to have those new-fangled microwave contraptions in their kitchens.

Nowadays there are people who know how to cook a baby/turkey in the microwave, but people generally didn’t in the 70s, although some adventurous folks might have tried. There were a few elements in the story that spoke to anxieties that people had at the time. I was a kid when I first heard it, so you can imagine what went through my mind if we had a young babysitter . I insisted that we go to Grandma’s.

Hair dryers are ok, but the cat tends to squirm a bit, with flying claws and all that. The cat is harder to hear from inside the microwave. The sparks coming off the collar decorations are just a bonus.

Bon apetit.

after having consumed enough alcohol to have a BAC over .4.

Someone who thinks nothing of driving after drinking that much, is someone who's done this on multiple occasions. She deserves to have her life ruined. It was only a matter of time before she killed someone. That it happened to be a fucking Nazi is a small bit of Karmic justice.

Fuck her.

Imaging how you wake up knowing you took someones life (not in self defense) because of your own chosen actions.

Her family is impacted, they're going to look at her in a jumpsuit for decades, holidays with her mom/dad/ in a waiting room surrounded w/ other inmates. Maybe she gets sober & recovery in prison, I hope so.

I think I'm getting more cynical as I age.

I have to imagine that someone driving with a .4 BAC is an habitual drunk driver. I might be wrong, but that's not "had a few too many drinks at a party" drunk driving. That's "power drinking while babysitting" drunk driving.

Looking further into my imperfect crystal ball, I'd believe that the family members of an habitual drunk driver couldn't be unaware of that behaviour. Did they have opportunities to change her behaviour? Maybe. Who knows for sure.

But again, I've got no sympathy for someone so irresponsible to drive that drunk.

I know people who have awoken from a blackout in a jail cell to learn they killed someone while driving drunk.

In one case, it was a child.

I personally know that police on occasion try to get someone to smile or laugh while taking a mugshot to make them look horrible.

When someone is emotionally a wreck after something like a fatal accident, it is easy to manipulate them. "You'll be seeing your family before you know it", or something similar.

Which in no way reduces the gravity of the offense.

think about it...she is 22..23? and can walk and drive with a BAC that high.
Most early drinkers would be passed out on the lawn. She apparently has a pretty good tolerance at such a young age.

Either this scares her sober for good, or she finds she can't stop drinking.

I drink Bourbon and craft beer. I've had my share. But good lord a .422? I doubt I have ever been half that drunk. I drink three or four 4 oz bourbons and that is way enough for me. And I don't drive.

because a normal liver processes alcohol at the rate of one oz per hour.
Thus it would be interesting to know the time of her last drink prior to the crash.
She's gotta have a high tolerance to be walking around even at the tested level
or
her liver is damaged, cannot process at that speed, thus more alcohol was in her blood.

a third option is that the Breathalyzer is faulty. Many a drunk has gotten off because of challenges to the testing instrument., when a clever lawyer asked to see the calibration tests, which are supposed to be done at least monthly, but rarely are.
at least that was true back in my working days. They probably have more sophisticated methods by now.

Drunk driving isn’t funny, no mater what

No tears shed for him. But it was pure blind luck that she ended up hitting the one deplorable on the road there.

She’s going to end up with a record and probably owing his family of Nazis millions after the civil suit. Sucks to be her, but every bit deserved for what she did.
