You are either being disingenuous, naive or you are lying in your commercials. You claim that if elected, you will vote INDEPENDENT OF PARTY if that vote will help or protect New Jersey. IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY ! ! ! As things stand, REPUBLICANS VOTE AS MITCH McCONNELL, their leader in the Senate, TELLS THEM TO VOTE. Oh, you don't believe me? Ask Susan Collins. Ask Jeff Flake. Ask Dean Heller. Ask Bob Corker. If you go against leadership, you're out, Pal! What does that mean? No committees, no money or projects for your home state, no visits by lobbyists ($), contributions dry up fast, nobody returns your calls. You are lower than a Democrat because you are not a team player.
Who are you trying to fool? The Independent voters in New Jersey? Jaded Democrats? Really? REALLY? You are not off on a good foot, Sir.
Let me offer you a more accurate campaign slogan: A VOTE FOR BOB HUGIN IS A VOTE FOR MITCH McCONNELL.

(11,802 posts)But, if he's elected, that's one more Dem that counts toward a majority. He can vote against us till the does come home, but his standing as a Dem counts toward a majority. Sucks. I get it. Think I'm happy with my Donnelly? Not on your life. But that's the way the game is played.

(46,130 posts)vote with democrats and HE WON'T. He's a personal friend of Trump who recruited him to run.

(11,802 posts)Regardless of how he votes, his victory contributes to Dems taking the majority. Which means Dwms hold the reigns in the Senate. Unless this dude changes party after being elected....

(46,130 posts)How does replacing a DEMOCRATIC senator with a REPUBLICAN help the Democrats in the Senate?

(11,802 posts)The party with the most members gets control of the Senate. The party that controls the Senate controls the Senatorial committees, what is investigated by said committees, what votes come to the floor, etc.
Listen man i get your outrage. I'm a Bernie guy. And, surprisingly enough to the usual suspects here, i also support democrats. Always have. Of course i want someone more progressive than this guy. I want someone more progressive than Joe fucking Donnelly to represent me. But we have to be strategic as opposed to idealistic, dig? Regardless of how he votes, he's a checkpoint in the Dem column for control of the Senate. That's the most important aspect. Better to have hum win as,a,regisyered Dem than a more progressive candidate that will lose. We need to be playing Risk not Chutes & Ladders..
