(3,514 posts)In the story of the Emperors new clothes, he was actually the Emperor.
Trump isnt the King. He just falsely sees himself as one. And thats what Time is illustrating.

And, no, I'm not threatening anyone, 'Agent Mike' if you are lurking. I merely think there should be a symbol of the consequences from the people to those who attempt absolute power)

(30,613 posts)It's right there in black and white, clear as day:
Article 1, Section 3, Clause 7
Judgement in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgement and Punishment, according to Law.
In other words, the impeachment itself can result in removal from office; impeachment may be brought in addition to criminal indictment.

If Trump isnt forcibly stopped (in a legal sense) we might as well kiss our Democracy adieu. It has to be done legally. Any other way would also end our Democracy.

(25,862 posts)be a few nearly meaningless indictments of lesser people, then Mueller will file a report with Congress, and that will be it. If it's before November 6, it will truly be all over for Democrats, because Republicans will bury the report or claim that it completely exonerates Trump (even if it says in plain language Trump colluded, the election was fraudulent) and their supporters and those who aren't well informed will enthusiastically keep Republicans in power. If after an election that sees a takeover of at least one house of Congress, it will still not matter much. If Dems take both houses, there's a slight chance of doing something.
No matter how you slice it and dice it, we're probably stuck with Trump at least to January 20, 2021.
