Gawdamn, this makes me mad/sad

To be sung to the tune of "Twinkle , twinkle little Star"

Lockdown, lockdown
Lock the door

Shut the lights off
Say no more

Go behind the desk and hide
Wait until it’s safe inside

Lockdown, lockdown
It’s all done

Now it’s time to have some fun

A US mother has shared a confronting image from her daughter’s prospective kindergarten classroom, showing the instructions for a lockdown drill put to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Georgy Cohen, a Boston creative director, shared the image on Twitter this morning. It shows a multi-coloured lyric poster outlining the drill protocol:

The palpable sense of loss of innocence in the comments sections of how other mothers and their children had to go thru survival drills in their schools is sad to read.

How can you take a sweet beautiful song that probably played on their stuffed animals when they were tiny babes and make it so scary. How can violence be more important than our children.

I was a bit shocked when our little one started doing these drills in kindergarten but I thought about it and it's better that they have some sort of plan. It's a sad reflection that they have to but it's better that they do.
