Trump aides threatened to get Fox's Pirro on Supreme Court if Sessions wouldn't make her deputy

Earlier on Thursday, Politico reported that Fox News host Jeanine Pirro has been lobbying Trump administration officials to nominate her for the position of attorney general.

In a followup to that report, the New York Times’ Maggie Haberman has revealed that Trump ordered current Attorney General Jeff Sessions to interview Pirro for the job of deputy attorney general, which is a position currently held by Rod Rosenstein.

When Sessions resisted considering Pirro for the job, Haberman says that Trump aides pressured him into doing it by saying Trump would consider nominating her to serve on the Supreme Court if he didn’t.

Even if Trump were to nominate Pirro for either the Supreme Court or for attorney general, she would likely have a very hard time getting confirmed by the Senate.

On her Fox News show, Pirro has become known for going on crazed, conspiratorial rants, and has also advocated for jailing Trump’s political opponents.

5. Insanity. I can't watch Pirro ranting about the need

to take to the streets and attack the justice department, or some other extremist rabble-rousing propaganda, without imagining her as a spokesperson for the Third Reich. I truly suspect almost nothing would be beyond that woman if she had the wrong leadership. She is the very antithesis of Rod Rosenstein.
