(57,112 posts)might just be the least of your concerns. I admit it: I bought a battery powered black light and I check out my motel pretty damn closely. I'm not a germaphobe but I was shocked by what I've found in "good" motel rooms, like used syringes. No corpse under a mattrass, yet.
Motels and hotels, both.

(31,261 posts)Those things are nasty. I used to wonder why. I recently was in a public place for five days and used the restroom several times per day. What I saw completely grossed me out, around 70% of the men that used the toilet or urinals just walked right out without a drop of water touching their hands. I will never eat at a serve yourself salad bar ever again. The owners of the bar may have to meet cleanliness standards, but customers that use utensils don't.

Hotels and motels, well, because they are hotels and motels--all transient guests from all over.
Airplanes should seem safe, as their lights are mostly on, even during most deadeye flights.

(870 posts)they have to ... because they want people to come back and stay with them, so they have to negotiate for a better quality than the average low budget stores can offer.
Even if he tried to donate them to the low income, the stores that sell low cost matters, would say it hurt their profit margin.
Its a very interesting situations, beause there are lots of people who can't afford the standard of quality of mattress that Hotels use.
I don't know what the correct answer is, as to how to dispose of them.

(45,003 posts)Well behind one door is a mattress stuffed with money, behind another door is a mattress soaked in urine (plus an all expenses paid trip to Moscow with Russian hookers included), and the third door has an indictment with Pruitt's name on it.

(9,999 posts)I don't care how good the quality unless it came from one owner and it was someone that I knew very well. Why would anyone want a mattress used by many anonymous people doing who knows what on it? And then yes, there is that bedbug thing. Eeeeecchh!
