Hannity OFF THE RADIO in Portland Maine

Was normally carried on 107.1, some RW junk station that had Imus mumbling in the morning and Hannity screeching at night.
It was good for some chuckles sometimes, but occasionally aggravating to know he was poisoning minds.
About 2 weeks ago the station changed to 'easy listening hits' from the past. Much better drive now.

2. Sure to be picked up by another station in the market. Maybe has been, or it's in the works.

Edited to add: Most likely the #2 talk radio station......probably an independent station, or one of a conglomerate's stations that has a less favorable signal.

Therefore, even if he stays in the market, he will probably be on a less prominent station with lower ratings.

From looks of things the conservative talk in the Portland, ME area is on AM, but with AM stations getting FM translator stations, that's why Insanity was on 107.1... (FM translator for WBAE). Its rival WLOB (AM) is the top ranked conservative talker in the market... they get fractions of 1% of the audience, tying with a HD2 signal playing classical. WBAE wasn't even rated.

The money isn't there. Switching to easy listening was probably a very good decision.

Are on any fucking stations that serve a deep blue area is fucking criminal.

There should not be one fucking radio station in a majority blue city that broadcasts this Sinclair wingnut propaganda that does not have 10,000 protesters on the sidewalk and boycotts of every fucking advertiser that funds this shit

this will destroy the rw radio monopoly when advertisers and ad agencies realize how easy it is to list advertisers - without listening, so they can be directly associated with the anti- american crap these stations are selling.

8. The money isn't in RW talk any more.

The owners of the AM stations that aren't part of a big conglomerate are finding that it is more lucrative to get a FM translator station for their AM and go with the music. Or Sports Talk (ESPN radio). Music and sports talk is advertiser friendly. It's an easier sell. It's also nice to hear music (that isn't Spanish or Gospel) on AM again.

iHeart Media may have shifted a lot of their shows to FM talkers, but their competition is.... Public Radio. It's why a lot of NPR stations have gone news/talk and the music shows go to a smaller station, HD2 or online. WUNC in Raleigh/Durham NC are the #2 station in the market.
WFDD in my area are news/talk in the day, classical at night. Last year WVTF (Roanoke VA) flipped from "full service NPR" to news/talk. I guess these folks want to provide the public with real news and information... not RW propaganda.

12. that's good but those conglomerates rule. and it's not about money for stations.

limbaugh still keeps the r-con reps in line from 600 of the largest stations in the country. they will continue to blast the country with rw propaganda and it's not about money in the sense of stations making profit.

they're main goal has been to sell trillions in global warming denial, deregulation, war, tax breaks for billionaires, voter suppression, beating back single payer, getting guys like thomas, alito, etc on the supremes, trump in the white house, and so on

it would be icing if they could pay operating expenses and make a little profit and never have a clue they were destroying american democracy

and while they have a 20 to 1 wallmart-vs mom and pop monopoly even in blue areas liberals still fall for the limbaugh claim it's all about demand.

they're going to hang on to the loudest stations as long as they can and they'll be handy when mueller reports.

luckily artificial intelligence

this will destroy the rw radio monopoly when advertisers and ad agencies realize how easy it is to list advertisers - without listening, so they can be directly associated with the anti- american crap these stations are selling.

4 easy steps

1) Record

Quicktime, on every Mac, can record audio streams. While playing the stream turn on Quicktime, go to 'File' and 'New Audio Recording'. Just turn on the recorder and when you're done save it. With Quicktime I believe it's necessary to have volume on.... Not sure the best way to do that with a PC but there are numerous recording apps that will allow do the same. Some allow recording multiple streams at the same time and pre scheduling.

2) Transcribe

Sonix.ai maybe the cheapest, quickest, and easiest transcription service. Just drop the audio file straight into their 'box'. Sonix transcribes for $5 per hour and they send an email when it's done, with a link to the transcription in their editing program. It took minutes and was generally very accurate. The transcription can be downloaded as is or be tweaked and corrected on their site as you listen. It can also be stored there. The monthly subscription is $15 but they offer a 30 minutes free trial.

3) Search for "DOT" to identify advertisers

Live recording of radio streams will include advertisements. Most advertisements announce web sites which are usually transcribed as "so-and-so-company dot com". There were a few ads that escaped but I found most advertisers by searching for the word "dot". Sometimes the ads provided phone numbers. That's fast. The Sonix text editor allows you to highlight and add notes. Each company or quote can get a note that is listed and numbered. The notes can then be copied and pasted.

4) Contact

Websites provide phone numbers and email addresses specifically for contact by potential customers. Complaint emails may get further up the chain of command than a phone call, and there's a lasting written record for employees to pass around. It may also be easier for sympathetic staff to pass on a comment to a boss in email form than personally.

Many talk radio hosts and politicians are leaving a trail of podcasts and even Youtube video that can be found with searches. Some radio stations archive podcasts. For example GOP Rep Devin Nunes has about 50 interviews with talk radio hosts dating back over 5 years on his .gov website. Interviews of other Republican politicians can be found. They say stuff in those friendly interviews they wouldn't elsewhere. Some podcasts can be downloaded without listening.

I'm writing an email to send, something like this:

Your advertisement was found in a transcription of the Blowhard X show on station KKxx along with more than x other companies.

I want to thank you.

Thanks a lot for Trump and his incompetence, corruption, and treason. Thanks for the global warming denial, racism, defunding of public schools, tax breaks for billionaires and their mega-corporations, increasing health care worries for me and my family, school shootings, and all the other ignorant un-American crap.

Here are some quotes from the shows you help sponsor:

xxxxxx

Tons of commercial Free radio and of course there is Original content John Fugelsang and Neil DeGrasse Tyson + MSNBC. ( I am not into Howard Stern - but lots of people like that too)

And it's coast to coast .. No changing dials while on a road trip..

Full disclosure: I work for them... And would love putting iHeartMedia and Cumulus Media out of business. They just carry conservative crap especially in rural America.

With my old car, I had a tape adapter that I connected my iPod to. Both of these pieces of technology can be bought at a store called Five Below (aimed at kids, everything there under $5).

I haven't listened to the radio in years. Don't miss it.
