House republicans defund CHIP

We cannot make “deals”.

That we cannot compromise.

There is no “meeting them half-way”.

Republicans see such talk as weakness and we the people get screwed.

Republicans went on and on about how Dems were using children’s healthcare as a bargaining chip and beating Dems up i the press.
Dems compromised on DREAMers and voted on CHIP.

Republicans wait a couple months and then vote to defund CHIP and laugh at us.

JUST IN: On a party-line vote, @HouseGOP passed the Trump-GOP rescissions package that eliminates Children's Health Insurance Program funding and cuts programs that create jobs & strengthen communities.

Republicans can do and say whatever they want and still get re-elected I fear. That is the America we live in (Bourdain’s death on the heels of news like this has put me in a very dark mood)

But I live in strong blue state, Washington, and many are apathetic about trump and Republicans...just assuming “it’s not that bad really” or “someone will fix it”.

I’m not getting my hopes up and am pretty much resigned to a world in which the trumps of the world always win as humanity has become an endless sea of disappointment.

It was part of the cut in trump’s budget adjustment to account for lost tax revenue from their amazing tax cut bill.
The handle is @appropsdems a verified (blue check) account. It’s Dems on the House Appropriations Committee

Pay attention who, in the Senate, votes against the House on this one.

What a disgrace

Tom Perez was correct when he bluntly stated:
"Republicans don't give a shit about people."

They are clawing back unspent funds from last fiscal year since they delayed reauthorizing the program. But they can keep those funds there if they wanted to.

If they lose two (Rs), it is DOA. The available vote there (without McCain) is 50 R - 49 D.

where most have no clue how the government works... and where even the current occupant in the WH and his sycophants are clueless as well.

But it behooves to at least provide clarification. This is not a dig at you personally but there is a technicality regarding the bullshit legislation that the GOP put forward with the hope that it would somehow make it through the Senate and they can get a "win" (by using smoke and mirrors).

My OP was only meant to reflect the message that they were delivering with me adding the bitter context that we still do not have any resolution for the DREAMers despite our deal making with republicans. My mood is a little dark right now given the last 48 hrs of trump and his administration and the death of Bourdain I am currently very fatalistic on our future.

Yesterday and today have been one nightmare "utterance", "piece of legislation", "proposal", "event", and "revelation" after another after another. That is why I have tried to take a little break from it in my garden when I can because they do this on purpose, and want you to be beaten down and demoralized. It doesn't mean that I am ignoring it or have no idea what is going on, but it is difficult to counter when your mind is scrambled and fury has set in so deeply that you can't think.

All I know is that "we" (our Democratic reps and leadership) need to be ready to hit the ground running after the general election (assuming we can at least take the House) with stuff to start reversing this. And we also need to be prepared for vetoes and have ready whatever talking points need to happen to the public if a veto can't be overridden.

Special counsel Mueller indicts associate of Paul Manafort

by Devlin Barrett June 8 at 2:09 PM

A longtime business associate of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort was indicted Friday on charges he conspired to obstruct justice as investigators probed a past secret lobbying scheme on behalf of Ukraine.

Konstantin Kilimnik was charged in a superseding indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Washington. The new charges revolve allegations that he and Manafort tried to influence two potential witnesses in a case involving the failure to register as foreign lobbyists.

Those accusations are part of a recent effort by Mueller’s office to revoke or revise Manafort’s bail conditions while he awaits trial next month in northern Virginia. A hearing on the bail issue is scheduled for next week.
