McCain statement on Trump calling for Russia to be readmitted to G7

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) blasted President Donald Trump for wishing Russia was readmitted to the Group of Seven (G-7) nations.

“Vladimir Putin chose to make Russia unworthy of membership in the G-8 by invading Ukraine and annexing Crimea. Nothing he has done since then has changed that most obvious fact,” McCain said in a statement. “Every day, Russian-led separatist forces are killing Ukrainians in the Donbass. Every day, Putin’s forces are helping the Assad regime slaughter the Syrian people. And every day, through assassinations, cyber-attacks, and malign influence, Russia is assaulting democratic institutions all over the world.”

“The President has inexplicably shown our adversaries the deference and esteem that should be reserved for our closest allies,” he continued. “Those nations that share our values and have sacrificed alongside us for decades are being treated with contempt.”

“This is the antithesis of so-called ‘principled realism’ and a sure path to diminishing America’s leadership in the world,” McCain predicted.

He was the proverbial bully. Then he found out that he had cancer and over night he became a meek, love everybody, not hurt a soul miraculous renaissance creature. Strange how impending death can temper even the nastiest bastard. Sorry, but I like the vast majority, wasn't greatly impressed by his re-birth. Not many went out of their way to attend his internment.

If he really wanted to fight the good fight, he’d change his affiliation to “Independent” and caucus with the Democrats.

But he doesn’t, so he won’t.

Like with Flake & Corker, it's just words. McCain and the others are still there with their vote, as opposed to doing something to actually bring this lunatic in check ... by switching parties and putting the Democrats in control of the Senate.

he's putin's puppet and is turning america into a russian satellite state.

he's *redefining* who our allies and adversaries are.

he's criticizing europe because he sees them as *adversaries*.
he's praising putin because he sees him as an *ally*.

That's all the US has left.

Germany and the UK and Canada and France, and frankly the rest of the world aside from a handful of dictators, have all decided two things:

1. The US is no longer a trustworthy ally and barely a friend
2. To accomplish goals like fighting climate change, etc., the US must be worked AROUND not with.

countries are picking on him.

His solution is to try to add Putin so that he will have a "friend" at the table.

The G-6 should respond by adding Mexico to the group.

The Democratic Party needs to close their tents from right wing elements. It is already bad enough that the party already past the right side of the spectrum, but for more than 40 years. It is way past time to start cleaning house and getting rid of the wrong influence from the Democratic Party.
