BREAKING: WSJ reports Facebook gave select companies access to user records in special deals

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Facebook shared personal information culled from its users’ profiles with other companies after the date when executives have said the social network prevented third-party developers from gaining access to the data.

That’s according to a report published Friday by The Wall Street Journal, which cited court documents, company officials and unidentified people familiar with the matter.

Facebook didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

a FB? Who in the world would use it or let their kids? It's non-essential. I thought repubs wanted the 1950's again? Start w sean Hannity telling the drones to scrub their phones of FB...w that app he suggested. bleach something. Everytime someone uses it...even just for convenience, your'e essentially saying it's ok whats happening to our country. Shut it off. Call people. Start writing down contact numbers etc, and try another way. The old way was pretty good for a whole lot of us...ergo...phone calls, telegrams,,,smoke signals...etc.

I keep failing to get upset at problems that are no longer happening because the problem's been fixed.

Let's punish them now for everything that they ever did bad. Even if it's not clear that they were deceptive in their presentations to their users or if it was a fairly common practice at the time.

While we're at it, let's punish everybody for anything bad they ever did, even if it's not clear that it wasn't common practice at the time and they've long since stopped it.

"Igel, when you were 19 back in 1978 you said this, so now you should lose your job as punishment." "But I haven't said things like that since 1978." "Ah, there's further proof--you're defending yourself. So not only will you lose your job, but we'll confiscate your house, too, for good measure."

Zealotry.
