During 45 years, I was covered by really good health insurance through my jobs. Now on Medicare for 12 years, which is not as good the private insurance was before.

I'm young, at a union shop for over a decade, and our health insurance has gotten progressively worse every time we renegotiate our contract. And that's with the power of the Teamsters union supporting us. We're still well-paid, but insurance is management's #1 target.

You probably had what is referred to as a Cadillac plan, where almost everything was covered and almost nothing required out of pocket payments. We had that too when I started in 2005, and it was wonderful. Short of catastrophic injury, you were set. Our daughter cost us only $500 from the first OB visit to birth (today it would be many thousands). That plan is virtually extinct now.

If you were back in the job market today, your Medicare would be comparable to most employee-offered insurance plans.

It was much better in the old days. In 1980 my wife came down with double pneumonia, was in intensive care for 31 days on respirator. We had to pay $250 total out of pocket.

What changed between 1980 & 2018? We need to reverse all the changes since 1980, because the changes have made nothing better.

they should glance quickly at the pile of orange cotton candy piled on his head and smirk just ever so slightly.

He's acting like he's calling the shots about when the meeting is over, while he didn't participate in good faith and insulted everybody and played patsy with the enemy, and now he's acting like he's closing it.
