This year the LAPD have really decided to turn up the heat on the Sunken City. I along with a few dozen friends, including tourists and locals, all were rounded up and given misdemeanor trespassing citations. They began by announcing they knew it was a "landmark" but that there were problems so they had to do this to keep us safe. The man at center with the dog is holding his infant child in his arms out to enjoy some time at the park. I got some beautiful pictures of the Sunken City and Point Fermin at least.

(27,711 posts)The fence is still up, but it's easily and safely gone under by the bluff's edge by Point Fermin Park. People go in and out all day long without a hitch. There's another missing section now on the neighborhood side that's only half the height of the remainder where an unfortunate person fell the other month and got impaled illustrating just how dangerous the fence is given it's spiked.
You've got some real street cred there nini!

(16,672 posts)They should just figure out a way to allow people to get down there. Unless it's just to unstable I guess.
It's been a while since I grew up in the big W..but I do have better street smarts than most
